Lydia - what is a PUSH group, and why did the 900 divisions have to do extra exercises? Cody did say in his letter that the drill sergeants like to have them to IT (Intensive Training). ?

Okay, here's what Cody wrote about the division. They offiially began their training on Oct. 11, and they were allowed to write their first letters on Oct. 17 but only had a very short period of time to write. He said that Ship 2/Div 903 is a performing division meaning they perform for three graduations including their own, and their performances consist of color guard, rifles, etc. Neat, huh??? He also said that they have the toughest drill sergeants because they are in a performance division, but he also said that the drill sergeants are the best. Apparently they are only allowed to write on Sundays but they receive mail on Monday through Friday. On a side note, I found a great youtube.com video about what our recruits have done while in bootcamp. It's called, "Racks-Navy Boot Camp" by PartyDuckProductions.

Hi everyone! My name is Billie, and we're from Iowa. Thanks for starting this group, Lukesmom. For those of you who haven't received letters, be strong because they are slowly filtering in! Received our first letter yesterday. Cody had written it on Oct. 17, and it was short, but it was filled with interesting information about the division. On a personal level, he wasn't very upbeat which bothered me a bit because his personality is usually extremely upbeat. However, he sounded very proud of his division and determined to stay strong. And then again, if they officially started their training on Oct. 11 and he wrote the letter on Oct. 17, then he was probably going through the worst of the worst in bootcamp. Ugh.

Yesterday was surreal. The dogs barked when the mailman pulled up to the mailbox (never happens) and he was here an hour early. I hurried down the hill to get the mail & there was his letter sitting right on top. I couldn't back to the house fast enough:)

Aggie, you should be receiving your letter today...depends on how long it takes for you to get mail from Great Lakes. I live in central IL so I got mine yesterday.

Hi, everybody. Thanks for starting this group, lukesmom. I was getting depressed about all those other moms getting calls! I haven't even gotten my first letter. I'm hoping for today.
My name's Karen, and we're from Oklahoma City.

He wrote, "I heard that from another recruit that mom has been talking to his mom on Navy for Moms LOL". He didn't give a name or home state/city.

Hi all, I did receive a letter yesterday. He did write that he is going to be calling home soon...said maybe on Sunday. I'm going to keep my home phone & cell phone with me at all times over the next few days just in case. I have to work this weekend...just my luck. I explicitly told hubby last night that he is to stay home on Sunday & answer EVERY phone call irregardless of what the caller ID says.
