I heard from Josh today - he too will be coming home from Groton the 16th - 26th! I'm so excited! Fortunately it's only a 3 hr ride so I'll go and pick him up. :) Marilyn, where do you live?

Matt just called from Charleston. He's made his flight arrangements. He's coming home Sat. the 18th, and doesn't have to be back in Charleston till Jan. 2. I am SO excited. He told me he won't even bother to give me his address because they said mail takes about a week, even if it's overnighted, so he'll just get his phone and ipod and laptop when he gets home.

Aggie08 - yes Brandon told me last night he thought he would have his address today, he is earerly awaiting his cell phone and ipod too. I hope they find out very soon about Christmas so we can make flight arrangements. Brandon is so ready to come home for a visit! I am sure all of the boys would love a nice break at home! We mothers will LOVE it!

Yes, Donna, Matt's in Charleston. I didn't hear from him last night, only the call mid-morning from the Atlanta airport. I'm glad to hear they made it ok. He said there were 35 of the PIR 12/3 kids -- excuse me, sailors! -- heading to Charleston, 20 from 903 and 15 from other divisions. I'm waiting for an address so I can send him his cell and i-pod. Hopefully they'll get official word soon that they can come home for Christmas, they'll need to be getting reservations made.

I got a call from Brandon last night. He made it to Charleston, said he got up at 1:30 a.m. so he sounded tired. Said his room mate has been there awhile and will be leaving soon, he will be getting a new one. Said rooms were kindof samll, like a dorm. Thought he would get to come home for Christmas but nothing in writing yet!

Aggie - your son is in Charleston too???

My brother just got a call from Codester! He is also setting in at A-School; says one of his roomies is someone from Div. 903 and the other is someone who has been in corpsman school since August. (?) I will be mailing his cell phone to him tomorrow moring. He gets to come home on Dec. 17 and doesn't have to return until Jan. 1st. . .wow!!! TWO FULL WEEKS!!!! I'm so super excited again. . .and here my coworkers thought I would settle down after PIR!!! WRONG!!!! LOL

Marilyn, my son, Josh, is in Groton too. He too is sharing a room with 2 other that have been there a few weeks. Definitely sounded like it will be a little more relaxed than boot camp. :)

Yes, I do feel blessed that he will be "close" by. :) Though for how long that will be, I don't know. But I will count my blessings while he's there. I think the big thing now will be that we will be able to communicate with them more.

Josh called me today, he was at the sub base getting settled in. He said the room is more like a dorm room, with 2 roommates, and they each get a bed, desk and dresser. Sounds like they will have a bit of free time as true classes won't really start until after the Christmas break.

Lydia: LOL You know, they had to ride a bus to go across the street. . . Must have taken more time than they anticipated! LOL Nice to know that both Cody and Luke will be in Great Lakes over the winter albeit different locations. How long will Luke be there? Cody said his last day of A School will be on April 15.

My SAILOR called me about 10 this morning from Atlanta, on his way to Charleston. He said he had to get up at 2 this morning! These early mornings are a killer. But wasn't it a great weekend? Snow and all, we had a blast! Now good luck to the new sailors in their A schools.
