Lala is correct, rmorgan>  Mine was setback for not turning in a shipmate who had written down the name of a girl.  So it can really be for anything.  Mine couldn't wait to get back into a new division, and actually did better/felt more motivated in the new one.  He said those guys were much more determined.  So sometimes it IS a good thing, like Lala said.  Try not to worry.  Have you gotten an official call from him that he actually has been asmoed?  Or was this in a "friendly" calll where they were threatening it?  I got both calls from mine....the "friendly" call saying that it probably was going to happen...he had to sign some papers...and the "official" call the next morning (scripted with personnel standing by) saying that he was being setback, here is my new PIR date, talk to you later, bye.

But like I said in my other post....they put him back in a division after just week.

Amom:  Would you like to add it to the calendar?  Here is what you do:

Click on Sept 15th on the calendar to the right.  Click on Add Event.

Here is the info:

PIR 9/16/11 MeetNGreet

Thurs, 9/15, 6-8 pm

Ramada Inn Waukegan

200 N. Green Bay Rd

847-244-2400

All with sailors PIRing on 9/16 are welcome, including children!

That's it!  Then the ladies can RSVP from that page.  The Ramada then gets a ballpark figure of how many are coming from N4Moms.  Those not on this site are invited as well.

rmorgan: Nice to have you here!

The procedure is that when he is put back in a division, he will call you with that info....division number, new PIR date.  Just be prepared...my son was setback when he was there (they call it "asmoed.").  He also called me and told me 2 weeks, and gave me the new PIR date.  A week later, he called again...he was back in a division a week earlier than expected---so he gave me yet another PIR date, division #.

Soooo....stay here for now....but just maybe....he will only be asmoed for a week and you will be in the 9/9 group!  You never know!

I did wait impatiently for my mail lady.  The letter did come today.  She said that they will be able to start sending mail out more often now.  Woo Hoo!! Maybe I won't be so anxious next time.

I didn't get a letter today... I am still on cloud nine from the call I got on Tuesday!!! I am still hoping for a letter coming soon.. Thank you so much for all the moms sharing the information from your SRs.   This website has been such a blessing for me.

Usually if they are set back for 2 weeks this early they will be placed in a new division and will get to have PIR with their new group. This happens some times for many different reasons. It usually turns out to be a good thing for them. Sometimes they struggle with the DIv and have a hard time keeping up and then they get set back and it give them time to complete whatever it is they need to do and they often become the leaders in the new DIV. Some recruits have said it was the best thing that happened to them. And in the grand scheme of life 2 weeks is really not a big deal.

They can also get set 2 weeks if they got in trouble for something. I know two of my daughters friends got set back 2 weeks because one gave the other a cough drop and that is a huge no no, but there are many things that it could have been.

They usually don't change DIV when they are near the end and have completed the training and only need to pass a test to finish. then they are just sent on to A-school with the next group as soon as they pass that last test. usually this happens the last week and just before PIR and it is almost always the run that they are behind on. And it can happen if they were sick and unable to complete battle stations and that it the only thing left for them to do.

I am sure you son will write and explain more about what is going on and he will probably call you again in a day or two.

I will keep him in my prayers, just continue to encourage him and let him know it will all work out okay and this may be just what he needs to finish and do well. :-)
