It was supposed to be 2 minutes, but the person who was timing him gave a little leeway. It ended up being 12 minutes.

How long were you able to talk?

308 got calls, too. There I was, in the middle of Wal-Mart and my phone went off. Definitely not my ideal, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I got my first real letter.  He says he a little home sick.  Hope not to bad.  He sound pretty good.  Said it been hard but he expected it.  I ask him what his favorite part of boot camp was and he said "Its boot camp, it all sucks!" He did say he didnt pass his frist PT test but didnt give any details.  His aunt Donna also received a letter said for her to be praying for him.  He said he missed us all alot and that this is the longest hes ever went with out talking to us.  I think him not being able to talk to us is probably the hardest thing for him. We didnt see each other every day but he always called me everyday even if it was just to say hi!

Ruth, thanks for checking on that oh and I DID get a phone call and lots of letters but my son tells me theres one kid in there that just WON'T keep his mouth shut and yes they ALL are paying for it!

Boys R Us, since my son is a PT instructor, I'll see if I can find out what athletic PT is.  Sometimes I get an answer right away, sometimes not.  I'll repeat again, if you aren't getting letters, many times it's because they haven't been awarded the privilege of writing due to not keeping their mouths shut, being lazy, sneaky, etc.  A few sailors can foul it up for a lot of them.  Just try to keep in mind that they have to learn to work as a team and care about each other because BATTLESTATIONS is intense.  I've had the privilege of seeing a capping ceremony right after BS.  It's emotional and they're exhausted, but all their training comes down to that final test to become SAILORS instead of RECRUITS. They get their Navy caps and stow their recruit caps away--with some tears shed.
