sheshe: Want to change your group icon pik and get rid of the silhouette pik? Here's what you do:
Google "navy pictures" and select one that you like. Save it...and then:
Go back into your EDIT GROUP setting...and you will have the option to change that image. Just download your picture and you have personalized your group! Don't forget to hit "Save" or "OK" at the bottom of that page. It really is easy.
Good morning, I bet you are excited that your PIR group has finally formed. I know 7 or 8 weeks seem like a very long time right now but it will pass by so much faster than you ever imagined it would. And the first yr will fly by as well. My daughter had PIR July 23rd last year. I have been coming back to each new PIR group since then to help answer questions and make this journey easier for as many as I can.My daughter is an AO and is based in VA. She got married during A-school and 4 days later her husband left for bootcamp. They are both finished with school and have their own apartment. It has been a crazy year lol.
And like Diannep said I also make ribbons to wear to PIR and to the meet and greet to show your support for your Sailor. They also make a really good way to help you recognize other members of your DIV and and members of N4M's. I wore mine the whole day of PIR and it was so cool to see so many others wearing them when we were walking around the mall. They would come up and say hi, especially those in the same DIV. The next morning at the airport it was so nice because it made you feel like family. You knew right away there were people there that you had been talking to and getting to know for 8 weeks. And we got to meet some of their Sailors as well so that was very cool. They also make a great keepsake and many people order an extra on for framing or to put in a scrapbook. You can see pics of the ribbons on my page here and on my facebook page Unique Memory Makers, if you would like more info or to place an order send me a friend request on this page or an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com If I have not responded to a friend request or email on this site within 24 hours please send me an email. Sometime messages on this site get lost and are never found again lol.
And please if you have any questions at all please ask, That is what we are here for and there is no such thing as a dumb questions. We are happy to help in any way we can. Lora, aka Lala
Lala is another beloved veteran who will be along to help with info and to introduce your group to the beautiful ribbons she makes for you all to be worn at PIR.
fireteamleaderswife will also post a good amount of info up top for your group later on. I will go ahead now and post the BattleStations info...that is their final test so won't happen for a while.
Hey, sheshe: Thanks so much for starting the PIR 9/16 group! I will post your link on BootCamp Moms for others to find you, and you will want to do this each day for a while, if you aren't already doing it! I will also let the other veteran ladies know you are here. I see Denise has joined already...she is great with veteran info too.
Please ask any questions that you have. Also, please try and check your board here often. I will also ask you to appoint an administrator for your group once some other ladies join and you have a volunteer. All that means is that you will have a "back up" lady to delete posts and post info up top if needed when you aren't on the board. We must keep last names off of this site. OPSEC rules...for the security of our Navy and our country! So, it is best to have 2 ladies in charge of the board. So once you have some ladies joining, please ask if anyone would be willing to step into that role. Then you can add her. You would do that by going into "Options", then "Manage Group Members," then putting a "check" in the box in front of her name, and then hitting "Promote to Administrator." It's easy. We have had a couple of groups in the past where a lady starts it, and then leaves. The board is then "paralyzed" since no one can delete, etc...without getting NavyMomAdministrators involved. The last one, I think, may have had her son discharged and she never came back after the first week. Another lady actually had a falling out with her SR daughter and deleted her profile...which of course deleted the entire PIR group! So please don't delete your profile! HA!
Thanks again, and remember....Betsy, Sandy, fireteamleaderswife, ochaos, and a few others will be joining here soon.
Hello ... if you have joined here you have a loved one in Ship 2 Div 944.
My son is here.17 and we have had the call and received the box. Awaiting the letter now.
