Received a letter from our son yesterday.  It was dated 1/30 and he said they were doing gas chamber and fire fighting this week and then preparing for battle stations next week.  All and all everything is going well.  He is so looking forward to seeing everyone on 2/18.  Can't believe we only have 2 weeks to go.  Just think in 2 short weeks we will be in the Great Lakes taking part in one of our most treasured memories for sure!!  Have a great weekend ladies.  Heading out to get my pink scarf this weekend!!

Renew:

I know how you feel about them being safe in boot camp and not knowing how they are when they deploy.  This will be tough but maybe we can all stay in touch and support each other.

I just wanted to share with you all, a poem I wrote for my son. I sat here this evening still waiting on a call. I soon realized, it wasn't coming. I think I
made a real connection with my baby growing up and becoming a man, so I thought I'd share... here goes.
YOUR JOURNEY

YOUR JOURNEY, MY SON, HAS JUST BEGUN;
AS YOU FINALIZE YOUR COMMITMENT IN BATTLESTATIONS 21.

JUST KNOW I’M ALWAYS WITH YOU, I’LL BE RIGHT THERE INSIDE;
FILLING YOU WITH STRENGTH FROM THE PRIDE I CAN’T HIDE.
IT WAS AMAZING WHEN YOU LEFT, BECAUSE YOU KNEW WHAT YOU HAD TO DO.
YOU KNEW SERVING FOR YOUR COUNTRY WAS CALLING FOR YOU.
YOU GAVE UP EVERYTHING SELFISH AND YOUR HEART GREW BIGGER IN SIZE…
“MY BOY IS BECOMING A MAN, I DO NOW REALIZE.
YOU’VE ALWAYS BEEN STRONG, SINCERE AND TRUE. YOU’VE NEVER LET ANYONE DOWN FOR ANYTHING EXPECTED OF YOU.
YOU WILL PULL THROUGH IN ANYTHING YOU ENDURE, BECAUSE YOU ARE A PART OF ME… THE BEST PARTS, I AM FOR SURE.
I WISH I COULD EXPRESS THE PRIDE I FEEL INSIDE, WHEN OTHER PEOPLE ASK ME WHY IT LOOKS LIKE I’VE CRIED..
I TELL THEM I HAVE A SON… A SON ON A MISSION. HE WANTS TO SHOW THE WORLD, HE HAS A PLAN AND IS COMMITED.
HIS MOTHER KNOWS, AS WELL AS EVERYONE AROUND HIM, HE HAS THE HEART OF AN ANGEL AND HIS WISHES WILL FIND HIM.
FOR ALL THAT LIFE CAN BE, AND FOR ALL THAT YOU ARE…. CHRIS MY ANGEL, YOU ARE MOST AMAZING! YOU ARE A SHINING STAR.

LOVE,

MOM <3

Well I'm glad that we know now why they didn't call. I too was an anxious mess all weekend. I'm so disappointed that we didn't hear from them, because I was SOO looking forward to the call. However, at least we know they're okay and they're safe. I don't even want to imagine how much worse it's going to be when we're not hearing from them because they're on deployment (not in bootcamp where we know they're safe and taken care of.) Anyway, keep posting if anyone gets a call so we know if we can expect one! Thanks ladies.
