Got a letter today!!! I just <3 all of you ladies and these updates, I don't know what I would have done without this website and this group!! I hope each of you know how special you are and our sailors are the greatest :).

I actually got two letters and one really hit me about what they have been through. I cried and cried reading it, I know they are strong but it is just heartbreaking to read what he wrote about the changes and feelings he experiences daily and how he worries about things! I wish I could take away his worries somehow...that has been hard. He also talked about how much the pictures I've sent mean to him and they take him away from there if only for a few seconds <3.

Anyway, 6 days ladies!!!

One more thing...My daughter found another article about the living flag. It is a spirit clip that will be shown during the Army-Navy football game. Now it makes sense why they were yelling ' "Go Navy, Beat Army".

tmasters - thanks for the info. What is the gas chamber? Is that the fire fighting thing?? No letter for me today. I had to go to Georgia for a meeting and drove like a maniac through 2 states just to get to my mailbox. I know he is busy and stressed but at least I did get to talk to him on Saturday. I don't know why, but I am getting more and more emotional as it gets closer. On my way to work this morming, there was a motorcycle beside me that had a Navy Veteran sticker on it. I pulled up beside him and thanked him, told him my son was graduating next week and yelled "GO NAVY". After I passed him, I broke down and cried. I am so proud of all of them. They have been through so much...sickness, injuries, no TV or cell phones (lol). Our "boys", as well as all of you, are in my thoughts and prayers. Big hugs to everyone. We have less than a week now.

Hay Ladies here is some info from a wife who's husband graduated last Friday. I stole it from the 7/1/10 PIR group, but I am sure she won't mind.

Hey everyone! A member of your group asked for some of us who've already been through PIR to post some insights here so... I figured i'd give you my two cents hehe! My husband PIR'd last Friday and I just wanted to drop by and offer some advice.. I know how excited you all are.. Okay, so here's my advice: If at all possible, get some binoculars! It is so so so hard to spot your sailor in that sea of white uniforms, binoculars will help. Also, sit in the middle rows of the bleachers if at all possible, as they offer the best view. If your sailor is in the middle/back rows, you will not be able to see them if you sit in the front rows and you won't be able to see too much of anything if you sit in the very top rows. Also, bring money for knick nacks.. They sell dixie cups (the white hats) with recruit training command printed on them and i think they sell teddy bears also, and they also sell drinks and things like that before the PIR ceremony. You can also buy division photos at the NEX after the ceremony, just in case your sailor didn't order enough pics to satisfy everyone. Wear comfortable shoes!!! It is quite a walk from the gate area to the graduation hall. Be prepared for your sailor to not want to do anything lol. I had the trip all planned out with all the things we were going to do.. Psh, all Chucky the Sailor Man wanted to do was lay in a real bed and watch TV. Be prepared to sit in traffic in Chicago. We were supposed to be through Chicago by 3 o'clock, but there was a bunch of construction on the way there and traffic was horrid in Gary, IN so we got to chicago DURING RUSH HOUR and sat in traffic for like two hours! LOL. And those people drive like maniacs lol so be prepared! Do not, under any circumstances, take pics out side of the graduation hall. They will take your camera and delete your pics! For all the girlfriends, wives and fiances, I know that you haven't seen your man in 8 - 9 weeks, but please adhere to the rules about PDA.. i mean would you rather hold his hand and get him in trouble and not have him for the rest of the weekend? Eyes are everywhere in GL.. Be prepared for random people to walk up to your sailor and shake their hand and thank em for serving.. LOL this was so odd to me.. it was like walking with a rock star! I can't think of anything else.. umm.. OH! Save yourself money! If you're planning on doing anything that requires tickets (six flags for example and lots of the attractions in Chicago too) have your sailor buy the tickets from the MWR thingy on base.. it's much much cheaper. My son, my sailor and I went to six flags for 100 dollars.. I believe it's called the Morale Recreation and Welfare Information Tickets and Travel office.. I'm not sure where it's located, but he/she can ask at the NEX. The tickets are deeply discounted. Speaking of discounts, the IHOP in Waukegan offers a military discount. Not sure what other restaurants do, but it never hurts to ask (lol you know what they say about a penny saved ;) Good luck everyone and if you have any questions feel free to ask me :)

Here I go getting emotional again thinking about what they have in store for them over the next few days. Thanks for the update tmasters. I just know they will all do great. I'll be so relieved when this part is over.

I think those of us who just had sick boys....they are really crunching. A letter came for my husband too for Father's Day and it said to tell me he wasn't going to write (but he did) most of what he told me was a breakdown of what's coming and that he loves me :) and I shouldn't worry because he is all better. Your right fabnoble they have been so strong..they are champs!!

Docsangel: that is super exciting for you! I'm really glad you got a letter! I hope he sounded good in it!
Tmasters: I will br keeping your sailor in my thoughts for crunch time. I know my sailor had some catch up to do- so we are in the same boat of anxiety. But I'm sure they will pull through together. :)
ONLY 6 MORE DAYS!!!! :)
