My son's PIR is 10/31/14. Would love to chat with other moms that have kids in Div 821.

Yes! I too have received a letter from the Mail gods. I laughed, I cried, and even did a little happy dance. For our letter, as well as PAMOM's, the letter is back from the very first Sunday he was there (8th). He said they were just starting Processing Week, that Ship 4 Div 821 is doing good and that at night their compartment turns into a gym. (oh to be young and have that much energy after a grueling day!). He also said -I'm quoting his exact words.. "I love ya, send some pictures, I lost mine and am beginning to realize I need them."...This choked me up. I printed out pictures, insisted he take them and they came back in his "kid in a box". I figured he didnt want them. Now I realize, he was sleep deprived, rattled, and didn't even realize he took his photos out of his wallet and shipped them home. Now, my boy is a quiet kid - doesn't say much,so when he does, I listen. Not like my girls that never stop talking. So for my boy to ask us to write him, ask for us to send him pictures, is huge. I know he really really means it. Keep writing ladies. Our fine young men need us to!

Hi everyone, guess what.... got a letter today!!! It was just one page, but I was so happy to read that little thing. My son wrote the letter on Aug 8th but the post mark on the envelope was Aug 20th. So my guess is he wrote it but they didn't send it right away. So at the point of that letter they hadn't really done much yet. He did say they were all awake for about 48 hrs the first couple of days. Lots of standing at attention and studying, not much PT at that point. 10 minutes to shower... lots of guys.... very small room.
I am anxious to hear how it is going at this point, I'm sure it is intense by now.
He sounded good, so I feel better knowing that. I just hope he still sounds that way when I get the chance to talk to him on the phone.
Have a good day girls, hope you all have something in your mailbox as well!!

Thanks Tasha, for the info. I really hope they all are working together as a team and can pass those tests so they get that phone call!!
Did you get a chance to call the Navy Lodge for rooms? They were extremely nice on the phone, very helpful. And it is only 1 mile from the training center.

The calls I've been getting aren't the official "phone calls home". Since we are married, he needed to get some information from me so he can send home papers that will put me in the system. Their regular phone calls are usually made after they all do great in tests and what not. Definitely need to work as a team to get a break and call home! He said they were gonna get a chance either Thursday or Sunday, but it just all depends how well they do. They have some kind of test coming up that they need to all pass on or by Thursday. Sorry if I got any hopes up a few days ago. I was just passing on what I was told. Pretty soon ladies!! Patiences always worth the wait! Hang in there :)

MelGal, what post are you talking about that said there would be no phone calls? Why have some moms gotten 2 or 3 calls already, then others who haven't gotten any at all?

Feeling blue too. This ache in my heart just won't go away. Not even sure if I can make it to PIR, because of my work schedule. Used up all my vacation a week ago sending my daughter to KU. Trying desperately hard to get use to an empty nest. Wish I could stop crying.....

Tasha, just made reservations at The Navy Lodge, seems really nice, very affordable, $65.00 per night. I booked 3 rooms. Where are you coming from? we are driving 12 hours from Pa. We will arrive sometime on Thurs Sept 30th.
