I had a weird experience yesterday. I called my sons recruiter to find out the mailing address for him. I was told first that he was ship 11 division 037. then later I called back to findout the grad date and was told that there wasnt one yet. Then I verified the address with the office manager just in case.

Well he told me the info I had gotten earlier was wrong. He said my son is at ship 5 div 311. I didnt know what that meant until I did some research and had other moms voice their concern. The recruiter should have said something. I am waiting for the recruiters office to open again so I can find out more. I have not recieved a phone call from my son. What is going on? Can they go to ship 5 for wisdom teeth? it seems like that is unlikely. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

They can go to Ship 5 for some really weird stuff but, I haven't heard of wisdom teeth. I'm sure by now your on the phone with the recruiter. Sometimes they can help others they can't. If your son was being sent home he should've called by now as well. I would suggest calling the Public Affairs Office and explaining to them what you have told us and see what they say. At the very least they can have him call you and explain if this is the case. Here's the #847-688-2405. Good luck

Thank you soooo much. The recruiters are currently tring to figure out what is going on. I cant believe this.

Your more than welcome, thats what we do here help and support each other. You just need to call PAO they have all the info at their finger tips. As we both know info passes from mouth to mouth changes I would call them myself. Wishing you good news!!!!!!!!!!!

I called them and they told me to wait for the form letter and that I will get a phone call if my sons status changes. I guess I will have to rely on the recruiter. This is the craziest thing.

I just spoke to my son, who was also on ship 5 for medical reasons.  His short answer was: Yes, they can send him there for wisdom teeth, (but he is not going to be sent home, he is still in the Navy), he'll be given a medical chit which means he doesn't do any physical training.  They remove the wisdom teeth as part of the normal medical tests.
(And in my opinion, his recruiter should have given you this information as a courtesy)

Hope this helps!

Due to legal and HIPPA reasons the recruiter nor anyone else can NOT give you info about your recruit...yes they are your loved ones..but they are concered adults (yes they will always be your child) so no one calls you about tthings..only the recruit (when allowed) will call whomever they would like..no one sits over them telling them to call home...if they wanted to call and just listen to the time...they could call that.

As far as going to ship 5 for wisdom teeth...no they don't do that....they stay with their divsion and are just SIQ (meaning sick in quarters) where they get to sleep in.  The only people who are sent to ship 5 are those being seperated

If your child is in Ship 5...look above and call legal and ask if they can ask for your loved one to call home.. When you talk to them ask them to sign the paper work so you can talk to legal and medical..if they don't want to sign the paper work..that is their choice and than no one can give you any info.

Again...legally the recruiter can not give you any info.  Call RTC legal

FYI....Ship 6 is where recruits go who have medical issues that should heal and are waiting to go back into a divsion.

Update: My son is seperating. I have very mixed emotions and feel terrible for him.

Thank you soo much for all of your help. I may still pop on and ask questions though.

God Bless

Beth

OMG what happened??? He was there such a short time is he okay??? I'm so sorry.

I am still sorting out the details something about his stomach. He had a hard time eating and they shipped him to ship 5. It is nuts. He is going to be crushed.

Not being rude..but I am sure your loved one knows why he is being home...that is why he gave you the short answers (you talked about before)....maybe he just doesn't want to tell you.    Just wait..either way he is coming home....look into colleges and such so he has a plan be when he gets home

He needs to figure out what he wants to do now. He is getting a medical separation. I only talked with him once now and I am waiting for another call.
