My son just called me and said he is coming home. He left March 28th and failed the initial run before boot camp. He can re enlist in 6 months. I am afraid he will be to discouraged and humiliated to try again. Any words of encouragement I can give him?

My daughter left on March 28th, we received the same call on April 6th. I told her when I talked to her on Monday that if she wants to go back we will help, encourage and support her. All you can do is be there. I know that my daughter can't give up. It would emotionally hurt her to just walk away. It is how she has always been. Just be there and do what you can to support him and encourage him. Nothing helps heal like the love and support of family.

Thank you so much. How long did it take for her to come home? Is she going to go back?
Wait, this is April!. Lol sorry, she probably isn't home yet.
I got a membership to the gym for the whole family so we can be there with him to encourage him, challenge him, whatever he needs, and a personal trainer. We ate all also adopting a healthy diet so he isn't alone in that either.

She isn't home yet. Said 2-3 weeks when she talked to her brother today. We have always had a pretty healthy diet. It was the physical activity that was lacking. We live close to the school and she can use their weight room and run at the football field, she can run at the local park. Finding a place for her to swim (get her confidence up and it is great exercise) is a little harder. But I will talk to the local business that has a pool and see if we can work something out. I don't think it will be a problem. We are in a small town, everything is far from us. Her younger sister can run with her (the only one who could push her), my husband will ride his bike along side of her and do workouts with her. I will do the set up and swimming workouts. She has others that have offered to run with her, help with workouts, give her rides when she needs to to somewhere farther away to do something. Her brother and sister live in other states, but they will be giving her tips on her workouts and things. Also going to get her to KNOW all the things that they were learning in the DEP program. So that she will be ready and all she has to worry about is the stress from being away from home and well basic training.

I just looked at my calendar and we got the call on the same day. When I talked to him Monday he said that he missed the first run by 10 seconds, and then they put him in a run training class for 2 days where they sat and did nothing. Not even one run, then he took the run test again and missed by 2 seconds.

They fail the first run they go to FIT but they don't do any training there, just wait and try again in 48 hours. It is what I read learning about this. More like a waiting spot for 48 hours. It is a setback, but now they have time to totally get fit and ready. Now we have to make sure they don't push themselves roo hard too fast.

We have friends who are also offering to run with him and work out with him. I told him that he has tons of support, half from people he doesn't even know, but that are rooting and praying for him.
Now I understand a bit better. Thank you
