Tammy, last years deployment was 6 1/2 months. This one will be 10 months :(  They have extended them twice already, with the last one when all the nonsense with Iran happened.

I imagine they get anxious to get out and do their job. There are some sailors from the Roosevelt on the Lincoln so they can get some sea duty in. I didn't know that they moved the sailors to other ships in order to get their duty in. Ethan said it wasn't bad on their first work up and when they did COMTUEX but after about 2 months out, he was ready to see land again. haha  I just think 10 months is way too long for anyone to be deployed. I have an Oklahoma mom whose son just came back from a 10 month deployment. I just hope that they don't continue long deployments for the sailors.

Thanks Ladies!

Tammy, what an adventure Eric will have and hopefully you can go see him there. That would be a great vacation! Thank goodness we have things like Skype and internet! I wish Ethan was able to Skype on the ship but he can't. If we were in San Diego, we could with the FRG on base but that won't work in Oklahoma.

I hope everyone else is doing well! (((NMH)))

Which ship is Josh with? Josh hasn't gotten to do his job and Ethan is on his second deployment. They extended them so it looks like September before he will be home :(   I don't know if he will be going to Virginia as they put him on a different ship. They are still with the Lincoln as part of their strike group but his ship is stationed out of San Diego so they may just go back when the time comes. I was hoping for Virginia so that I could meet face to face with more friends there and my EOD sailor is there.

I hope all you ladies and your sailors are doing well! Ethan is preparing to deploy again soon. They will travel around the world this time and end up in Virginia. He made E4 and has his wings! He was named Blue Jacket of the Year for his squadron and will get his name on the side of one of the helicopters! I am ver proud of him!!
The judge has given us a standard visitation order with every other weekend and holidays until Ethan and the mom get something finalized. He also has given Ethan visitation wje on leave from the day he gets home until the day he leaves. We are very happy that Addie will be around us frequently and consistently.
I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and if your sailors get to be home, give the a hug from me!

Hi gals....my sailoris is Bethesda Naval Medical center...working with wounded warriors.

I have been to see him acouple of times.  He felt the earthquake today said it wasn't any thing major.   Kim I will be in SD about the same time as you when my other sailor's ship comes in.

Tammy, since Ethan is in a squadron so whe  the ship is dry docked they may attach to a different carrier. He is thinking about going special forces. But he has to put in for it and then get approved. That is still up in the air as he won't do it for a while. He would like to be a US Marshall someday and is trying to work his way that direction.

I am going to San Diego on Sept 7th and I am hoping to get to take Addie with me. Still haven't heard yet. I'll come home on the 11th. In the past 2 years Ethan has PIRd on 9-11 and then left for A school. He left on his first deployment on 9-11 last year and I will be saying see ya later again on 9-11 when I leave SD. lol   I'm starting to not like that date. haha

I don't know if the Marines have a support group like N4M but we are here for you if you need us. Hugs

Ethan went on deployment September 11 of 2010 to the Arabian Sea and returned to San Diego in March. I was able to take Addie out to see the ship come in and Ethan and Addie got to know each other again, Listening to her call him 'Daddy' was wonderful. He came home in May and took her mother to court to get a legal visitation order. It is still in the works. While he was home the judge gave him very good visitation days and he was able to spend almost all 3 weeks with her here. After he took her back on June 4th, we weren't allowed to see her. I talked to his attorney and she said we could file for grandparent rights. I talke to the mother's sister and told her what our intentions were and last weekend, I was able to go get Miss Addie and bring her back for a visit :)   We were sitting on the couch reading a book and she laid her head on my arm and said "Gramma, I miss you"  it just made me cry! She was able to talk to her daddy several times and we had a wonderful time. I am hoping to go to San Diego the first part of September and hopefully take Addie back with me. Ethan will deploy again later this year and they will go around the world and end up in Norfolk. The ship is going in for routine repairs and will be dry docked for a couple years. We don't know where the squadron will go or if it will stay in San Diego, so I am not sure where he will be next.

I have heard that the first 2 years are always the hardest and once they get passed those then it is somewhat better for them. Ethan has also said he would get out but that will also depend on the economy and the job situation. He wants to go to school but he has child support to pay so it will all depend on what is going on in 2 years and if he can manage work and school.
