Hi all ~

Just wondering if any parents in our wonderful group have experience with which International Calling Card plans are good ones? Have you used them personally and were there any hidden fees involved? My daughter is on deployment and this will help us stay in touch with one another. Have anyone used PennyTalk?

Also, how does the international call work if both callers are using cell phones and the originating caller uses an international calling card, does the caller receiving the call still get socked with Super Duper high international charges??

Thanks in advance!!

Sherry I will ask my son what he did when out on the sub last time
Consider contacting these companies, either by phone or email, to get more info. Maybe they even have some material that can be downloaded or mailed to you (I have a hard time remembering everything in complicated oral explanations lol). When you find out the specifics, posting the info for others to read would be so helpful to all of us moms. Good luck - I hope this won't be a difficult adventure.
Thanks Lauren & Wendy!!

Wendy, I may have missed something but which companies? Yes, that's a great idea and I will post to the list my findings to help others who have this same question.
Hi, I was wondering if we could post the names of the companies, it seems to have disappeared.
Barbara ~ Unfortunately no one has yet offered the name of any company. My daughter has mentioned Pennytalk.com so you may want check their website out.
Well, as far as I know, depending on where your Sailor is stationed, Verizon Wireless MIGHT have an international plan for your cell phone...you'd have to call them to find out if they're your provider. As far as calling cards, I have no idea...sorry. My daughter is in A School now but in preparation for her going overseas at some time in the future, I definitely will be looking into "Skype" which is a computer thing that would allow your son/daughter to actually talk to you and see you through a computer. I believe all you need is a computer connection, an "eye" thingy to see them online and one of those headphone/speak sets to use Skype (which I hear is free)...Walmart sells these items at a reasonable price.
