My LS was first assigned to a frigate stationed in San Diego, it was recently decommissioned.  His new orders were for a Mine Sweeper, home port SD but deployed now in Bahrain.  He has friends from A School that are assigned every where.

It is interesting to hear that it is a self-paced course, my family member who just graduated was telling me about it.  Was it always like that I wonder?  Hubby who has been one for 13 years never went to A school, he struck the rate when it was still AK.  He's been to several C schools though but he was just as curious as me about it being self-paced. Also, his biggest advice for new LS's is if you're ever offered the school for Financials to take it.  It is one of the hardest jobs he's ever done and so much responsibility falls on him but it's worth it.  He took it on as a 2nd class and has done it the last 2 commands, it's hard to do but worth it.

LS course is self-paced. My daughter will have done LS course in 30 days. She graduates this Wednesday. She said she wanted to get in and out asap. Just takes a lot of focus. She's been in Navy for a year and this is her second A school, so she was familiar with the process. I'm sure that helps not being fresh out of boot camp and having to learn what they expect out of you.

question for anyone who has already gone through or is going through LS school. My son is in "A" school and he has learned the coursework will be self-paced which is good and bad for my son.  Self-paced courses can be mind-numbing and not very motivating.  Do you have any ideas or tips/tricks that I can share to keep up his motivation?

Thanks Lynda.  My son graduated PIR 01-25-13 and is now in Meridian.  I understand there's a week of "indoctrination" before they actually start school.

Good morning ya'll! Hubby is an LS and my cousin is graduating LS school on Thursday (he's so proud!!) I recently saw her PIR in November. It's been a fun rate for him so far.
