Heather, so sorry you missed the call.  That is so hard.  If it is a status change, they will make him call until he reaches someone.

Unfortunatly not ddoing great annm My son tried to call Friday and I missed the call. Still very upset about it. And I also found out all the calls made Friday were updates on status and graduation and most were delayed for one reason or another. Really hoping it was good news, but as he has been sick not holding my breathe. Thanks for asking and please keep praying!!

Hello Sisters, I haven't visited in awhile so I had to read all the posts to catch up. Welcome to all of the new moms. For those of you who are preparing for PIR, that event will be an experience you will never forget. I am in Columbia and would love to meet some of the moms in Charleston, Florence and Columbia.

My sailor was home from Norfolk last week since I was in the hospital. I couldn't relax until I saw his face walk through the door. I am so blessed to have my sons and they were very worried. I lost my mom 17 yrs ago and my dad last Sept and we are still grieving his loss. I could see the worry in my sons' faces and it gave me such pain. Have to take better care of myself so I can be in their lives a long time.

Well hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Talk to you later.

Thank you ladies.  I am really looking forward to his PIR.  It will be more than worth the long 13,100 mile round trip.  Just wish I could see him for more than one day, but it is what it is.

Heather, so glad you got your box.  Isn't it exciting just to see their handwriting?  Did you receive the PIR letter yet with the date.  Great rates out of Myrtle Beach to Chicago through Spirit.  Now you can look forward to the 2-week very quick call.  I had my cell phone on at all times.

KwajMom, that will be so exciting that you can be there!

KwajMom that is so awesome!! I bet that will be an even better graduation present than graduation itself. And thank you for your service!!

Kellyd.. I would love to get together sometime! :) And so far it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. I am staying as busy as possible so I don't think about it. That hardest part is not talking to him daily. He went to Austraila last his 11th grade summer with People 2 People Student ambassadors, I think that has helped with the not seeing him part. But we still got to talk at least every other day at the least... Sometimes three or four times a day. :) But, this to shall pass and then we can move on to the next adventure!. Looking forward to talking on here more!!

Got a quick "info" call from my SR.  Was so good to hear his voice even though it was a one minute business only call.  It hasn't been a full 2 weeks, but it seems like a month has passed.  I miss his calls.  He called me everyday since I left 11/9/11 for a post overseas.  His PIR is scheduled to be exactly one year since from the day I left.  He isn't expecting me to be there, but I'm going to surprise him.  My leave was authorized and all the arrangements have been made.  :D

Heather T, my son attended A school in San Antonio also.  He really enjoyed it, but it was intense.  He was allowed to have his phone from the beginning there as well as a laptop; the only thing that took a few weeks to phase up to was civilian clothes.  We gave him his phone at the airport when he left and he texted when he could.  We also brought a couple of changes of clothes so that he'd have some when he could wear them.  His PIR was October of last year.  After A school he attended FMTB school in San Diego and is currently working on his FMF pin.

Welcome, Kellyd and Kwajmom.

HeatherT,

I live on the NE side of COlumbia, you are not that far from me.  We should meet soon. We can go through this together.

Gabe leaves on the 26th.  You will be the pro when he leaves. You can tell me what to expect. :)

HeatherT, I know exactly how you feel, you are on a roller coaster ride and it will be great sometimes and tough others but you will make it and so will your son.   You are in our prayers, hang in there.
