We Got back last night from PIR what a wonderful experience. I cried off and on through the whole ceremony. We were on a military schedule the whole weekend starting thurs. when we flew out. Real early mornings and lights out around 10. we were very tired last night when we got home. We did  a lot of sight seeing when we were there on thurs. and then yesterday afternoon our Sailor left at 10am we had until 3 to do more sight seeing . We had a wonderful weekend and would not have missed it for the world. Our Sailor had a lot of great stories about him and his experiences. Some really funny stories. Enjoy your weekend. It is something you will never forget. Enjoy...

thanks...I don't know much about Greer's tennis team; I'm more of a football person since thatj's what my SR played, but the courts look nice.  Before he started driving I spent a lot of time waiting for football practice to end and the pickup was right next to the courts.  I only live about a mile from the school.

We did reserve a suite so we have places to sit and hang out other than on the beds.  I'd love to see a little bit of Chicago while we are there, but we will have to see.  I'm off work Monday but my husband doesn't get paid if he doesn't work, so he needs to get back if we can.  I guess we will find out at PIR when his flight will leave; if it's early, we'll have Saturday to be tourists.  I can't wait to see him!

Kimbokatbo...I'm just down the road in Greer!  We are thinking of leaving Wednesday after my husband gets off work and driving as far as we can, staying someplace cheap, and driving the rest of the way the next day.  I'm hoping my 11 year old will enjoy it, although we won't get to see to much of Chicago.  We will have just that one day and I don't know what he will want to do, probably just hang out and rest for awhile, and we will be at the airport with him the next day until he leaves.  We have to drive back on Sunday since my husband really needs to be at work on Monday if he can.  He's in school also, so he'll have that as well.

Starchild...I'm sorry to hear about your losses.  I'll keep you in my prayers.

Annm...yes, we are going to PIR.  We are planning to drive; my younger son has never been up north so it will be a fun trip for him.  He's missed his brother.

Hello sisters, please send me Susan's address. PLEASE!!!!

I want to thank all of you for your words and actions during this difficult time. Since I posted this my cousin and aunt have passed away. I have been to 6 states, 6 cities in 3 days and I am so tired. I am in mourning for 3 relatives- very close relatives and I am so confused. I can't sleep or eat.

Jacketfan-it has been one year today since my son left me. He spoke at his grandfather's service and I cried my eyes out. The time at boot camp can be difficult but when you see your Sailor at PIR you will be so proud and that part of the roller coaster ride will be over. BUT the ride is only pausing because you have many more rides to go. He told me that he wanted me to come get him during boot camp several times but he was determined to make it through. 3 1/2 weeks until PIR. Let us know when he goes through Battlestations so we can light the blue candle. I am excited for you.

Just after I posted my last comment we got a call.  He is doing great now and is no longer homesick.  What a difference a week makes.  He will be graduating in just 3 1/2 weeks...the time has flown by!

he was in really good shape when he left and he's one of those people who can not exercise for weeks and then do a few push ups and have a 6 pack.  As a woman, that makes me jealous, but as a mom, I'm glad things like that are so easy for him.  He said other than the homesickness boot camp was easy.  Hopefully it cleared up; he responds really well to antibiotics usually.

We are all here for you.  Thursday's letter will hopefully be brighter.  They will do everything they can to help him catch up so reassure him of that.  My boys were suprised how little physical activity there actually was.  Neither prepared themselves for running but did just fine.  However, the dress shoes affected our second son the most.  He was still having his feet treated during A-school.

I sent stamps Saturday...a little ambililent about the next letter.  I so want it to be better for him.  He was SOOO excited about this journey and it bothers me that he's having trouble.  I guess that's the wrong word.  He's probably not dealing with anything any worse than anyone else there. I have heard they all get sick at least once.  He even mentioned getting boots at home and practicing running in them here so he wouldn't get blisters.  My husband said he got them pretty bad also in basic training for the Air Force.  It's been over a week since that letter, so it has to have improved some.  It helps so much to be able to vent to someone that gets it.

Jacketfan24, hang in there.  It is a roller coaster and the next letter may sound better.  Our letters always went up and down.  Cellulitis is a bacterial infection and maybe was caused by the new boots in on his leg or new uniforms.  They can buy stamps if they are taken to the NEX but I always sent stamps and labels so that they didn't have to write out the address since they don't have much time to write.  Plus selfishly so that I knew I would get them on time if the postman couldn't read their writing.

Will Susan be admitted here in Charleston?  If so, I'll go see her.  Thanks for letting me know if she will be.
