thanks, Starchild! I got the box today and did smell his clothes, but they didn't really smell like him. I also got the form letter with his address; he will graduate Oct. 28, which is sooner than I expected. The few lines he was able to write were wonderful; he sounded happy!
Are you signed up for Google Alerts for the your Sailor's ship? I just found out about this. There have been some interesting stories in the past week. (If you don't know about that, go to http://www.google.com/alerts, enter "USS ???" - be sure to use the quotation marks).
Pray for me my Sisters. My dad has been admitted into the hospital this afternoon.
Hello All I am not dead either. My dad has been taking me through a lot and my brother is not taking care of himself. A few weeks ago ADT contacted me to let me know that my brother's house has been entered and EMS was on the location. My blood pressure went up. He is doing fine now but several days after that my dad's friend called to tell me that he was taking daddy to the ER. I was on the phone with the nurses to keep abreast of the situation and to give them some background information. The ER dr contact daddy's dr to gain more info. I broke all speed limits getting to my dad and when I get there he doesn't listen to anything I say. He doesn't eat and when the meds he is taking make him sick he stops taking them. So he feels worse. Empty stomach plus meds equals an upset stomach. Upset stomach plus no meds equals feeling worse. DUH!! I woke him up @ 9 (he is usually up so I knew he didn't feel well) one morning to give him his meds and he told me to leave him alone and go home. GRRRRRRR!!! The dr called me to bring him to the office at 8 am the next morning. I told dad but the next morning when I went to wake him up, he said:"I am not going. You go and see what he wants. Doesn't he know that I am not even up at 8." GRRRRRRR!!! I had a consultation with the dr and he called dad to tell him to be in his office @ 11 (as a walk in). The dr examined him, talked to him and told him that he needed to move with me. When the dr left dad said:"I am not having surgery. I am not going anyway. I knew he was going to say that". GRRRRRRRR!!!!! He was feeling better when I left because I cooked for him and gave him his meds on time. That man is soooo stubborn. My mom need a medal. My sister wanted to know if there was a way we could go to heaven and tell her to come back down to take care of her husband because he is driving us crazy. We are researching the possibilities!!!
Well he went to the ER yesterday and who do you think he told his friends to call. Guess? No seriously guess! I am not going to tell you because you already know it was the person he told to leave him alone.
Sisters I love my daddy dearly but he is draining me. I am praying that he moves with me. He has so many excuses. Each time he says one I have a comeback response. He finally said:"You have an answer for everything I say don't you. Well I am not going. What do you have to say to that." GRRRRRRR!!!
Keep us in your prayers. Louis is underway now and Vincent is still talking about going to the Navy recruiter. And me- I am looking for an island with no phones. Any suggestions?
I am actually doing very well. I haven't cried since he called...he sounded so good that I know he made the right choice. I'm sure I will cry buckets again, but so far, so good.
Been very busy at work, which helps too.
Cant wait to get the letter so I can start mailing his! My kid in a box should just be a phone. He was donating everything else.
So glad you got the call! I wrote every day and it really does help. Never got answers to my questions, lol, but it was great therapy for me and I felt like the only support I could provide during those weeks. Call the recruiter on Friday and he probably will have the address. Hang in there and we are here for you. Next call - around week 3.
I got my I'm here call about 2:15 this morning...he sounded normal! I feel much calmer now that I've heard his voice.
I've already started writing. You are right, it does help. I just tell him all the tiny details of our life so he feels like he's here.
Thanks for everybody's support!
Thank you! Had family gathering tonight; he didn't want a going away party. He's very emotional right now, but will be fine, I think, once he is on his way. I'm okay, for now. May not be in the morning. He's got so many people to spend time with, I won't get much. But we will have a family movie night tomorrow night before he goes to spend the night at his older brothers. I am more worried that he won't get enough rest more than anything else. His schedule has been turned around for months.
Will keep you posted! Thanks again!
jacketfan24 - I remember boot camp days all to well. Funny thing is, once mine was thru with bootcamp, all the emotions ceased. The fact that there was no physcial contact and very little communication all most done me in. Its harder on us Moms than our kids. I think because as a parent we have cared for them and nurtured them thier entire life and all at once, its done. Cut right off. Job done ~ I'm happy to say my Sailor is doing well. His last call was Wednesday, he was in Los Angeles at Six Flags! They have 10 days leave and went to visit his new wifes family and see how the other side of the world lives, lol! And we're babysitting the GrandKitty! Life is good! Hope all of you fabulous women enjoy this Labor Day weekend. Hugs to you all!!!!
