I have tears in my eyes just reading what everyone has written.  That is a great picture Susan and oh the feelings I can only imagine what it will be like.  Can't wait to see pictures when Leslie gets back. I am sure she got some good ones

I lost every emotion I had when I hugged my Sailor.  Couldnt contain myself.  He had tears in his eyes too and asked "Mom are you ok?".  He never realized how much I loved him and missed him until that very moment.  I think thats why he stays in touch as often as he does.  Whewww!  Yall got me crying again ~

Thank you for the welcome I am glad I found all of you. I know this will be a life saver. Moms to talk to and we will have all been through it. My Mother in Law has 5 kids but none joined the military. My father in law joined the Navy when he was 17. When they met he was already out. So she really does not have a clue what we go through. But that's ok  I will have all of you for support. Thank you.

Leslie, congratulations!  Have fun at PIR.    Lisa Ann, welcome.  I've recently joined this group; my son will leave on Sept. 6.  It doesn't matter how old our kids are, they are still our babies.  I also have a 23 and a 21 year old and I feel the same way about them.

Had my husband's side of the family get together (he doesn't want a going away party, so we are having to do family dinners instead) this past weekend; since he is leaving and my daughter is headed to Oklahoma for graduate school in less than a year, it will be awhile before we are all together again.  At least people have stopped trying to talk him out of it!

oops forgot to say to LisaAnn:, Susan is right the Navy for Moms site is a life saver, if our kids knew how much we shared about them they would die of embarassment but it gets us thru.

Leaving for Great Lakes tomorrow! I think I could fly without the plane, LisaAnn I said goodbye to mine twice. The first time he was 9ozs overweight when he got to MEPS. I'm sure your MIL meant well but they are always our babies. My mother's sailor is 46 and he knows darn well he better call home at least once a week!

My son leaves for BC on the Aug. 16th. He was suppose to leave on Aug 2 we were on our way to the recruiters office when he called and said they gave him the wrong date. What an emotional day that was with a weekend of goodbyes and being mentally prepared for that day now we are going through it all again. I know this is just the begining  of the waiting process, like all you then you wait for the call. I will need to be strong. My mother in law tells me he is old enough and yes I know that he is old enough but it does not make it any easier.

Leslie, Oh how I remember that call.  All of us Moms were posting as we got the calls.  Overwhelming!  We were crying and laughing and relieved all at once!  Congrats!!

HOOYAH! My son passed battlestations last night and I got the "I'm a sailor" call today, The relief is unreal. From his last couple of letters he was struggling and sounded like he was ready to give up. He made it and now I'm really a Navy Mom. Thanks everyone!!!
