For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A "boomer" is a submarine that carries the Tomahawk missles. It stays under for the full six months. (This info provided by my son) Typically subs surface several times during a tour and Sailors then have a chance to call or use a computer to communicate. But thats still about two years out, so I'll worry later!

Susan - Wonderful to hear! I've not yet shared the misery of my son being deployed. Last night he did mention if he was on a "boomer" it would be six months with no communications. I feel your excitement! Just the misery of boot camp almost sent me over the edge. I know you can hardly wait to get your hands on him. To hug him, hold him and touch his face. I get all teary eyed thinking about this. Big hugs to you!!!

Kim-prayers will go up for the sailor and his family. God will work everything out. There is power in prayer and with all of us praying for him, he will be okay. Let his mom know that we are uniting in prayer to assist him.
Liddia-I wish I was there with you at the beach. Sounds like you will be involved in a lot of activities. I had to work today so today is my Friday. And you all know what I do on Friday nights!!!!
Sisters, I want you to look at these websites and tell me what you think. Louis talked me into this and I simply love it. I have been meaning to tell you but it always slipped my mind.

Hello SC Moms, I haven't posted here for awhile. Susan, so happy for you and know that you and your son are always in our prayers. Kim, prayers will be lifted for the sailor and his family during their struggle with this bout of leukemia. I can't imagine receiving this kind of news. Makes some of our problems seem so small.
Starchild, I believe I read where Louis is going to Norfolk. My son Daniel is stationed there and who knows maybe they will meet. Daniel has been fortunate to meet several sailors from SC and that's great because they always seem to find things in common.
Take care everyone and enjoy this beautiful day God has given us.
