kim- not sure what group yet. just got my official letter on friday (2/18). I asked him in the last letter I sent him. I'm patiently waiting for my next letter, or maybe a phone call?!?!
But thank you everyone. I will for sure get the medical POA and regular POA ASAP!!!
koz - my thoughts are this: if your Sailor is deployed, and god forbid they get hurt, or you need to make financial decisions on his behalf, if they are in Japan or Quam, someplace far away - when the time comes, its better to have to much paperwork than not enough. I had to show my sons POA just to change his cell phone plan. On this website there was a Army mom trying to find info on her hurt daughter, she didnt have either POA, other than a 20 second conversation from her daughter, very heavily medicated, all the mom knew was she was in Germany. The "powers that be" would not provide her with any info or status of her injuries. Please, please get it done! Both of mine cost about $20. A family friend, who is a paralegal handled mine. The $20 was for filing fees at the courthouse and I got extra copies, just in case.
HI Everyone!!
I'm new to the navy. My husband just left for boot camp feb. 9th. He's in Ship 02 DIV 921, and his PIR is 4/8.
I've been reading about the POA. I don't need one because were married, right?
Well I look forward to getting to know yall!!
Hope everyone has a good night! :)
StarChild - Get a POA and a medical POA asap!!! If he gets hurt over there they will not tell you anything. Hippa stuff! There have been many Moms on here trying to find out info regarding hurt Sailors. I've already taken care of that with my son. Its better to have and not need it than to need it and not have it!
I'm going to the couch to eat some Chocalate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream!!!
Hello All. Just catching up on all the post. I will keep all of the families in my prayers. It is so much excitement here: PIR, soon to be homecomings, passing important exams and handsome sailors. Makes me feel much better.
Susan-did I hear you mention roller coaster!!!! I thought those rides were over but I see it is just another type of roller coaster.
You know I was upset about Louis going to Japan. Well he received his verbal orders and he will be going to Japan. He does not know when or even if he will have time to come home but I am okay with it now. He and I talked about it and he told me that he knows that I was not happy about it. Every one in the family is happy for him so that has made me come around but I still don't want him to go. Now I need to know if I should have him get a POA. He is not married yet so what do I do?
I am so happy to have my SC Sisters to listen and help me through my roller coaster ride.
Susan - Many hugs and prayers your way. I understand all the emotions of bootcamp but have not yet experienced the deployment. My heart if heavy for you.
2byzmom - My son is in GC for A school. He's been there 3 weeks and loves it so far. Classes start today for him (ET) There is much comfort in knowing he will be close to home for the next 2 1/2 years. Then the hard part will start for me. His "wish list" is Hawaii, San Diego and Quam. Why does he want to be so far away from me? I'm still letting go, trying to let my boy grow up . But he is constantly on my mind.
To all of you, thank you for the friendship and acceptance. This seems to be the only place where we can share the most precious and painful details of our Sailors life and everyone understands. I am forever grateful!
