It's fantastic he will be close to home for three years.

I figured there were a lot in that field.  It totally a new interest to him so I am going to be curious to see if he likes it.  Going from wanting to do Marine Biology in the Coast Guard to EM in the Navy is far apart.  It will be very interesting to see where he gets stationed.  He said he didn't want a aircraft carrier because it is extremeley noisy.  What will he be doing here in Charleston?

Where is your EM stationed?  I know so little about the job.  He just started A-school.

2byzmom - yes, i am glad they will be close too.  i live about 9-11 hours away from where they will be, but i am happy with the same coast.  they are my onlys, so while i know that they will at some point go to other places much farther away, for me and my apron strings this is a good transition. LOL : )

Hi 2byzmom!  Same boat here (no pun intended LOL).  My Sailors are twins and are just finishing up A school last week & this week.  They enlisted together and went through boot camp and A school together and now will be going their separate ways for their stations.  They were hoping to go to the same place, but due to timing and what billets were available when, one will be in Georgia and the other in South Carolina.  Still close enough for a visit though, so it is ok.  The mom in me still wishes they were together though. : )

Four more days ladies and I will be seeing my sailor!  He called twice last night to tell me what to bring.  He may be a GradNGo and won't know for sure until the Wed.  He said he didn't know if he would be able to call home to tell me, so I'm won't really know how to pack.

They enlisted about a year and half apart.  They both wanted Coast Guard but the first one decided go to ahead with the Navy and the other tried to wait it out.  The Coast Guard was just not hiring yet.  I preferred the timing of the second one because he was 20 instead of 18 years old.  What is MC?

Welcome 2byzmom.  I have twins in the Navy.  One a Corpsman who graduated September 11, 2009 and an EM who graduated January 14 and is at A-school in GL.  There is another mom who has joined this group recently as well with twins in the Navy, both Master of Arms.

Awesome picture Cindy.
