I just accepted the friend request.  I have two sons in the Navy as well.  One is a Corpsman who had PIR 9/11/09 and stationed in Groton, CT.  Our other son just graduated 1/14/11 and remains at GL for A-school for EM.  What is MAA?

@Tamme...Hi! I just sent you a friend request...I would like to send you a message to your inbox to ask you some questions about the Charleston area.  Thanks for your help.

@Sandy...my son is just getting done A school and Charleston is a possible billet pick so I am curious about the area.  We are from NJ so it is not too too far for us.

CC0727, we live in Charleston.  Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.  The school is located in North Charleston and they have done a very nice job with the base.  I heard from a girl in our PIR group whose husband just came here for A-school that there is also Navy lodging near the base for visitors.

CC0727 - We live in SC.  My son will actually go to Charleston for A school.  Its about 109 miles from home.  So a good day trip for us.

Hi ladies!  Are you Moms that live in South Carolina or Moms that have Sailors stationed in South Carolina?  Do any of you have any info about Charleston area or the Navy base there?  Thanks!  : )

Connie - Happy early Birthday!  We will be at PIR on Friday!  Wooohoo!

Denise - You're right!  Not sure I could have made it another day.  I feel so bad for the other Moms, because I know how they feel, waiting on a call that never comes.  But, today is the day!!  I know your call is coming along with the rest!!  This will be the most exciting day with the most Sailor calls!  Huge hugs to you - HooYah!!

I'm ready and waiting for my SAILOR call to come today.  Yesterday was quite the rollercoaster in our PIR group.  Divisions 55 and 56 were supposed to have gone last Thursday night, then got rescheduled for Sunday night.  Division 56 Sailors finally started calling around 4pm...thankfully for Sandy...I don't think she would have lasted much longer!  At any rate, no one from 55 ever called...mom's were freaking out!  So, we are all assuming 55 was delayed again and went last night with the other scheduled divisions.

TODAY is the day I've been waiting for!  Going to pull out the luggage and start getting things ready for departure on Thursday!  I'm so excited!  HOOYAH!

Denise - we are staying until Sunday afternoon.  Not knowing for sure and everything changing so often, it was best to have the whole weekend just in case.  If he leaves early we will hang out with him until he leaves and probably take a tour of Chicago afterwards/

Sandy...how long will you be staying in Great Lakes?  With him being Grad&Go, are you leaving for home soon as he leaves?  My son is staying at GL for A school and will get weekend liberty...hoping for overnight as well.

Looks like you got it covered, Sandy.  LOL  You will have him laughing.  I have chills about the Donkey hug.  Hopefully you will be able to hang out with him at the airport.  One of the families that were at our hotel said there son went to the airport at 4:00 in the morning as well but they hung out with him all day because his actual flight wasn't until that afternoon.   You can hang out at the USO with him and also get a security pass to actually sit with him at the gate where he will leave from.
