Sandy...I too will be connecting in Charlotte...I'd assume everything will be back to normal for us going out week after next (27th), but not so sure about Tamme leaving this week.  I would assume things would be back to some sort of normal by Thursday though.  I guess the best bet is to check with the actual airport (not airline) in Charlotte.

Sandy, we are going from Myrtle through Charlotte as well this Thursday.  Is your PIR 1/14?

Denise, I'm worried now about the snow in Charlotte.  We go there from Myrtle Beach for a connecting flight.  I've been worried about snow in Chicago but from the looks of it I should be more concerned with the mess closer to home.  Yuck!!

Thanks Tamme...please update with info regarding the driving when you are back.  And...congrats!  Our PIR is the 28th and I just can't wait.  I'll be anxiously awaiting news of your PIR and any info you can provide about anything...still a lot of unknown territory here for me!

Denise, you will be much happier with the rental car.  The base is in the rural area, things are spread out and the driving isn't bad at all.  You are right about the cost and you would have to use the train or taxis if the shuttle wasn't available.  If you are going into O-Hare, that is right on the interstate and the base is right off the interstate.  We go up this Friday for PIR.  Pray for good weather.

Need advise from SC mom's who have been to PIR at Great Lakes.  I've got my flight and hotel reservations.  Trying to figure out transportation while there.  Being from SC, I'm not very comfortable with the thought of renting a car and driving while there, but the shuttle to and from the airport alone will be the same price as a car rental, plus we still have to get around while there.  Can anyone give me info regarding what the driving conditions really are up there?

Only got about an inch of snow in the lower part of the state over night/early this morning, it has not been above freezing all day and the ice started about 9:30 am. Hoping we don’t lose power tonight got gas for the generator just in case.

I am loving this snow here in the upstate!!!!

Good Morning, hope your day will be a good one.  If you can, stay inside and stay warm.  It's snowing here in Florence and it looks as though we have about 3 to 4 inches so far.  I am praying that the ice won't be so bad.  I'm spoiled and I hate it when we have no electricity. We do have gas logs so we can at least stay warm. Talked with Daniel last night and he said it was really cold in Norfolk and I'm sure it's probably snowing there now.  Susan so glad you were able to talk with your son.  It's amazing how wonderful it is to hear their voice and to hear from them directly that they are doing ok. And yes, it is ok to get emotional anytime.  I still do and my son is still in the states.

Denise, great news about your son's nomination.  I know you are so proud and thankful for such a fine young man.  I will be thinking of you and your son during Battlestations and I know he will  do well.

Take care all and God Bless.  GO NAVY !!!!!

Global warming huh?  The snow is pretty but it is going to make for a nasty day!
