We had breakfast together this morning and I took him to the recruiters station.  He was waiting for the shuttle and I realized (or rather my brother, retired Navy) that we were stressing him out.  He was ready to move on and become Navy and not son or nephew any longer.  We said our goodbyes and hugs with no tears - Which is absolutely not the way I usually am.  I'm proud and pumped for him!   Tomorrow, I will start concentrating on me and my treatments - whatever that may entail.

Welcome TheBobstersMom.  I'm fairly new here as well.  My son left for GL on 11/23/10.  I assume your son is coming to Columbia today and stays overnight and flys out to GL tomorrow?  If so, and if he has a cell phone, he'll be able to communicate with you once he leaves MEPS for the airport and up until he gets to RTC at GL's on Tuesday night.  My son called and texted me all afternoon/evening on the Tuesday travel day.  We got the late night call that he arrived.  Since then, nothing.  I have very high hopes that letters will be arriving and perhaps a phone call this week!  So very sorry for your recent diagnosis...my thoughts and prayers will be with you, your family and your SR.  You are absolutely correct about positive thinking.   It's not always easy, but it is necessary for the rollercoaster ride you are embarking on.  This site is amazing.  The support and encouragement you will find hear will lift your heart and really help on the bad days.  Join the group for December Boot Camp, then once you get his PIR date, find that group and you'll be able to talk with the mom's of the SR's in his ship/div.  You will find that you become addicted to this site.

The Bobster leaves in the morning for MEPS and then for GL Tuesday morning.  My heart hurts even though I know this is good for him.  We are all meeting for breakfast in the morning to see him off.  He is having a hard time because I was diagnoised with breast cancer last week.  I will be seeing the surgeon Tuesday so hopefully I will have a chance to talk with him and assure him that everything will be okay.  Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.  I know that prayer and positive thinking is a powerful.

ATTENTION: StarChild is sending a message.

HI MY NAVY SISTERS-I'm baaaaaaaack! for now. I hope this message goes through because I miss all of you soooooooo much. Louis will be bringing my laptop on the 23rd. I can read your messages SOMETIMES but I can not send anything. After typing many posts they will not go through. Keep getting a headache so I stop until the next time. I had to get a message to you so I contacted Hippmom. I miss you soooo much and yes I said it before but I really miss you sooooo much. Get the picture:)

Louis is wearing civilian clothes now and we are texting daily. Boy I am happy to have my son back. He went to Chicago last night and I started asking him so many questions: how are you going, where are you going, who are you going with, when are you going back. I finally told him that I was his mother and that alone gave me all rights and privileges to ask anything I wanted to. He thought that was funny.

I am too afraid to read all of the posts in fear that my slow - - -  computer will freeze up. I have so much I want to say but I will try again.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this goes through. Love to you my Sisters.

FINALLY got the form letter! It also has the same confusing info two other mom's are experiencing in the same same Ship/Div. The letter showed PIR of 1/28/11 that was scratched thru and overwritten with 1/21/11. His comments sounded good and I can't wait to actually hear from him. Also found out the address provided my his local recruiter was wrong...I certainly hope all these letters I've been sending will find there way to him. He mentioned "I made M.A. three days ago." What does this mean? Master of Arms maybe? What does it represent?

I'm still waiting ... this week has been a real emotional rollercoaster ... but today I'm going to try mind over matter. LOL...should be interesting. My triggers these days seem to be unlimited. I can't bring myself to think about Christmas. Haven't done the first thing, no gifts, no cards, no decorating! BUT...today is going to be a good day! Want to get my work done early so I can (hopefully) watch history tonight when the Gamecocks play!

Received letters yesterday - just makes it so much easier, you know? The rollercoaster of emotions I expected but doing good.

Yes, Susan, it is easier knowing what they are doing and the logistics but it is still so hard not being able to communicate with him and know how he is doing. Can't wait to get his first letter, which hopefully will be today. He was the last to leave too and make it an empty nest. I've spent the last two weeks worrying about the wisdom teeth like I did when the first son was there. The mothers I "met" in my other son's division are still such great friend and we communicate all the time. It's a bond that is incredible and the only ones who understand this rollercoaster of emotions.

Susan from SC/Corpsman Mom - I am in Charleston and my son is also a Corpsman (pictured here). He is in Groton, CT. His twin brother is now at boot in Ship 7, Div 45. My Dad died eight years ago as well and it doesn't get easier, the pain of loss just becomes part of my life. Annm, you are in my prayers.

Kim, go Gamecocks!
