I'm excited that today I can call his recruiter and get his address...have a stack of letters and cards ready to go. Last week was definitely hard with his departure and the thanksgiving holidays. I didn't even get to hear his voice when he called. His dad and I are divorced so the plan was to not answer the phone that night and he would leave each of us a short voice mail...evidently he ran out of time and simply had to hang up :-(

Hello Everyone ! Had a wonderful weekend with my son. He left here at 2:15 pm headed back to Virginia. Just called to say he is stuck in traffic on I-95 going about 35 mph. Connie, I assume your son is out there on the same highway with Daniel and all the others. I pray for their safety as well as the safety of the other sailors whether they are home, on their way back to base or deployed. GOD be with you.

Happy Thanksgiving Ladies, My son went to the mall so I have some time on the laptop. Just wanted to stop by to let you know how we are doing. I am enjoying my son and the cold weather. Wish it had snowed last night. The Meet and Greet was nice. It was so good to meet the moms and it was great meeting the Sailors of some of the moms after graduation. The graduation was lovely. I broke down and sobbed when my son hugged me. Eight weeks without a hug then WOW! All the memories of his birth and growing up went through my mind and I just broke down. I fell asleep while we were watching tv but I held on to his arm. I watched him fold his uniform so neatly. That boy never folded anything! I watched him put on his NSU today along with his peay coat. I was so proud. I started using the lint brush in the lobby of the hotel to clean the coat. He was a little embarrassed but I'm mom and that's what I do. I'm okay about leaving him here now. He will be okay.

My thoughts and prayers are with my Navy Sisters who do not have their Sailors with them. Soon very soon.

Susan-Security stopped me once when I was trying to stop the shuttle. It was COLD and I did not want to walk to the other side where the shuttles are suppose to pick you up. HA!

When we went into PIR my son had to show his ID but I did not. I had a blue N4M ribbon on. Louis' Petty Officer also told him that she saw him and his mom on N4M. You were right: They were ready for me.LOL

DeniseSC-Welcome to this group. These women have been my rock. You will need us sometime and we will need you all the time. This is a roller coaster ride-going up, down, up, down. You will find that you have hidden emotions just waiting to come out. And they will come out during this Boot Camp that you are about to go through.
My son told me that so many thoughts went through he head during the first week: 'I want to go home. What the heck did I get myself into? I don't have my phone, my Xbox, can't watch TV. I'm calling home so somebody can come get me". Well he is now a handsome Sailor. Glad he didn't call because you know I would have been in Great Lakes like Bewitched or I Dream Of Jeanie!!!!

Ladies, my son received a card with a Quiznos gift card inside. He wanted me to tell you THANK YOU!!! He was so excited to tell me and he was proud to tell the others about his card. Hugs to all. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I am proud of the 386 new US Sailors that graduated today. My son is a
Sailor in the US Navy. The best Navy in the world. And yes I cried when I
held my baby for the first time in eight weeks. He is a MAN now but he
will ALWAYS be my baby.

It is so cold here. The wind is blowing so much. Started raining with some sleet earlier but has stopped. I saw Div. 011, 012, 013 and 014 marching and they look great. All the recruits wore a white scarf around their faces so only their eyes were visible. Including the new Sailors. It was funny standing with other moms and dads trying to find our Sailor when they were walking back with their bags on their backs. ALL of them look alike. The female Sailors wore different hats and that is the only way you could tell it was a female. One mom just started calling out her daughter's name and the Sailors kept saying, Not her ma'am. My son walked right up to me and I did not know who he was but when he said Ma. I started melting.

I have to give the laptop back now because my Sailor has been using it since we got back to the room. When I get permission to use it again I will come back:)

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Ann, Thad is still on my prayer list and I know you will be so happy to have him home at Christmas and just to be able to hear his voice will be such a wonderful thing. My son Daniel is on his way home from Norfolk right now. We are so thankful that he is able to be with us for this holiday and also at Christmas. For those of you who will be missing your sons my prayers are for their safety and for each of you to have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Hello All,
Finally made it to GL. Very cold and I can not wait to see my son in the morning. My US Sailor. I am glad that I drove because he told his brother to bring a lot of stuff. Clothes, xbox, phone, shoes, books, etc. He wants to pick out what he wants then I can take it back. I am the moving company this week. Just left the Meet & Greet and it was nice meeting some of the moms I have been talking to for eight weeks. Our children have bonded and now we have built a friendship that will last a life time. Well going to sleep now so I can be rested for my tears tomorrow. I already know I am going to cry. I started to cry when I passed by the Naval base today:)
