Welcome Superwoman to the SC Group. I can tell you this group is fun, loving, supportive and strong. If I didn't have my Navy sisters, I don't know what I would do.
Annm- I stayed at the Springmaid Beach Resort. I usually stay at Beach Cove, Embassy Suites, Sea Watch Plantation or in Cherry Grove. I have to go back soon but I could not go to Bennett's Calabash. My son and I have been going together for 10 years and I could not bring myself to go without him.

Ladies-I got 'Great Lakes Fever' today and I started browsing the Navy sites. I found one site that has local information from different Naval Stations. You may already know about it but I was excited. One article from Great Lakes was just posted 10/18/10. I was happy to see something that my son was experiencing. Check it out: www.navy.mil/local/greatlakes

kimbokatbo-if I could swim to GL I think I would have beat my son there Oct 4. I would have been waving at him when he departed the bus. I miss him that much but having N4M has been so helpful. I am bonding with my Navy sisters and I like it.
I know that is an image that would be a sight to see:)

Hello Ladies,

Hippmom-I'm Baaack. My trip was so relaxing. Chillaxing is a better word:) I talked about my son to everyone who would listen and I wrote him a letter and mailed it. I did not know how tense I was until I had a good night's sleep. Well listening to the ocean is always relaxing to me. That is why I love the beach. I am now cool, calm and collected (for now) so I am ready to go to Great Lakes.

Susan- Yes that was me trying to swim north but my friends stopped me. I kept yelling, 'Great Lakes here I come' though. Wow news travels fast. I even had my mobile phone in a zip lock bag so it wouldn't get wet. Didn't want to miss a call you know. Ha-ha! I had to laugh at that one myself.

Sorry you missed your phone call. While I was catching up with everything I read your post and I felt your pain. I know now that this journey is truly a roller coaster. Always going up and down-up and down. Sometimes the coaster stops at the top then plunges down so low and fast you don't know how you are going to get back up. Then soon the coaster starts going back up again.

Hi Ladies,
Hope everyone is having a good week so far.
Kimbokatbo-thanks for the info about what to wear. I will be booking a suite with a kitchen and I looked at Navy Lodge as well. I am so excited about going and seeing our son. I hope to do some sightseeing but I will see what my son want to do.

Susan-I feel like a whirlwind but I will settle down on Nov 24.

Annm-I am excited for you. I can feel your excitement when I read your post.

Hello, Ladies
Just a quick note to say I hope you are well. StarChild, you are tough, just hang in there and everything will work out. I do hope your husband will go with you because I can tell you it is well worth the trip and money. We wouldn't take anything for the opportunity we had to attend our sons PIR (4/16/10). Just to see him and give him hugs was wonderful. All of you who sent your sons names for our prayer list at church please know they are now part of the prayer chain at Berean Baptist Church in Florence. It is an honor for our church to add their names and always remember you are all in my prayers. Take care and I hope you all have a blessed week.

Hi Ladies,
My girlfriend called me and invited me to spend the weekend with her and some other classmates in Myrtle Beach. I am packed and on my way. My sons and I love to go to the beach and eat at Bennett's Calabash. I can't wait to write my son and tell him. Before he left we spend a week at a beach house along with family from Philadelphia and Texas and he told me that was the best vacation he ever had. My nephew from Texas is a Navy man and he had an opportunity to talk to his little cousin about boot camp. My sister told him about how my nephew's graduation was pushed back because he did not do what he was suppose to do. The both of them encouraged my son to stay focused.
I am glad that we spend that week together and we are planning to make that an annual event.
Well my Navy Sisters I am off to soak in some rays and sip on some water:) I deserve it.

AnnM-The warm weather is around 32. I hope we have hot weather then. What did you wear? I love the snow. I grew up in Philadelphia and played in the snow all the time. When SC get snow I am outside in it with my sons. Louis will love the snow but I told him he had to shovel snow while in A school and he said "I am not shoveling snow, cleaning the bathroom or peeling potatoes". Boy is he in for a rude awakening. I hope it does not snow on Wednesday but Thursday will be fine. Just as long as it stops by Saturday so I can drive back on Sunday. Ha boy do I sound like I can predict the weather.

I downloaded Weather Channel desktop and it is 49 degrees in GL. I am trying to find something to wear for PIR. It is going to be cold. Any suggestions ladies?

Cindy and Susan-I love hearing from you. I feel so much better when I do. My husband knows how I feel about my sons and he knows that if he does not go he will have to do something so great that I will forget. Now the question is what could that be? Hmmmmm. Can't think of anything.
