Cindy-I thought that too but I don't know. I am usually in control and organized but for some reason I can not make up my mind. I am truly confused!! Stay here, go there, eat here, no not there. My mind is spinning. I have asked my family to give their input but my husband said that he may not be able to go. He does not know yet!! I KNEW BEFORE OUR SON LEFT. I AM GOING AND I PUT IN MY LEAVE TIME BACK IN SEPTEMBER. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? My oldest son needs to leave Great Lakes a day early so he can go to work Monday night. Well I wanted to stay until Monday so that I could spend the entire weekend with my son. I don't understand. I know our son will be disappointed if his dad is not there but he will be happy that I am. I can't book lodging because I do not know who will be going. I am ready to book a one bedroom suite and call it a day.

Susan- The cookin' wave is about to end. Until they tell me what they are going to do, I am on strike.

Thanks everybody for the assistance. The Springhill two bedroom with kitchen are booked up now but they have a lot of one bedroom suites left-no kitchen though. I found one but it is 9 miles away from the Naval Station. I have to think about it some more.
Ladies I met an ex-Navy wife (that is what she called herself). Her husband died in 1981. She told me that things will work out fine for my son and I should cry any d^*# time I want to because that is my son and I am a mother and that gives me every right in the world to do so. She was full of energy and fun to talk to. I told her about N4M and she said she wished she had that but they didn't have computers back then so she was out of luck. She was so funny. So funny that I am cooking again today. WOO HOO! No peanut butter sandwiches and microwave dinners. You know my family is enjoying this while it last.

I am preparing to book lodging for PIR but I do not know the little towns near RTC. I know Waukegan and Libertyville but are there any others? I am looking for one with a kitchen, livingroom- a suite.

My son leaves for boot camp Dec 13. Does anyone else have someone leaving at that time?

CHOO-CHOO!!! Susan. I have looked at that letter over 30 times already. Each time I look at it, I do a little dance. I am going to ride this HIGH train as long as I can.
My family is happy that I am feeling better because I haven't prepared a meal since Oct.4. I made sure they had plenty of microwave dinners, peanut butter and jelly, bread, hot dogs and beefaroni. I have not been eating properly myself. Well today I am preparing supper for them. I am ready to eat, ready to pack and ready to go. Wow I guess I will be just as happy when I get a call from him. Maybe I'll bake some cookies!!

Hippmom-I read the poem and that is going in the 3-ring binder.

Ok Susan, I have read the letter 3 times but I have placed the letter in a 3-ring binder along with the Navy terminology. I did a baby book, a football career book and now I am doing a Navy boot camp book. I am starting to use the Navy terms when I write him. He will be laughing at my letters but I know he will be proud of me.
Now you did not ask me how many times I LOOK at the letter. That is another story:)

On my way to the post office to mail all seven of the letters.
My son and I looked at restaurants and hotels before he left. He chose a seafood restaurant and I forgot the name of it. Could you help me?

You should have seen me walking to the mailbox. Head hanging down- feet dragging. I looked a sight. The mailwoman did not put the mail in the box-she handed the mail to me and smiled. I didn't think this was strange but when I saw the letter I tried to BE COOL. I slowly walked in the house because my legs were weak and my heart was pounding. I knew how the Scarecrow felt. When I closed my front door I started yelling, "The letter, the letter, the letter". That was the length of my vocabulary. I started galloping from room to room like my son did when he was BORED.
Thanks to N4M for the support. My son said that I would be on the site all the time and he is right. I wrote him to tell him so. I have 7 letters ready to go tomorrow. His dad sent the article about Carolina vs Alabama WOO-HOO! and his favorite NFL team Titans. Now I can plan for the PIR.

I GOT THE LETTER TODAY!!!!!! I was excited but I did not cry. I was so happy to hear from him. He wrote a note telling us how he is adapting to military life. His PIR is 11/24 and his ship is 09 and div 007.
Susan- I can definitely chillax now.
