Well, today is a sad day at our house. Daniel left this morning for Norfolk and it is so lonesome here. He fills our house with so much happiness and love it just about kills us when he leaves. He is safe in Norfolk now and maybe it won't be so long before we can see him again. Being part of the Fleet is so much different than Boot Camp and A School. Hope all of you have a great week. God Bless.

Good Afternoon Everyone. I am enjoying having my Sailor home for the next few days. I can tell you that the time is flying by. I have cooked more since he has been home than I have the whole time he has been gone. Of course he had a list of all the things he wanted while he is here. Yesterday I made a Pot Roast with gravy ( real gravy as he calls it) and he wanted to know if I could go cook for the Navy. That made me feel good to know that he loves my cooking. Every Mom wants to know that they can please their kids. I told him I know how to cook for a few people but I don' think I could cook for thousands. I hope all of you have a great week and that you will all see your Sailors soon. Take care and may God Bless each of you and your families.

Good Afternoon Everyone - just a note to let you know my Sailor is in the next room laid back in the recliner watching TV and listening to his music. He got into Columbia last night about 11:20 pm and I was standing at the bottom of the steps at Baggage Claim when he started down the steps. I can tell you all that it was wonderful and he acts so mature and so grown up. In fact his Dad was standing outside making sure no one towed our car and he saw me hug a young man and he said to himself, "who is she hugging"? He didn't recognize his own son. Well, that's enough right now. I will cherish each minute my Sailor is with us. God Bless you all and for those of you just starting this journey - Hooyah !!! Our prayers are with you.

Hello, Ladies - Hope you are all well. I am so excited. My son will be home for 12 days beginning this Thursday. It has been three months since we've seen him. He will be going to Norfolk after his leave and that will be great since it is so much closer to us than Pensacola. Take care and I hope you all have a great week.

It's funny seeing my daughter being called a "future sailor". Never thought of it that way! Originally she wanted to join the Air Force but the delay there is way over a year, plus she was joining them because her (now ex) fiance was joining that branch. I encouraged her, along with the AF recruiter, to search out the Navy and see what they had to offer. Seems that they have much more of what she hopes to do (train dogs for bomb sniffing, etc) since the AF no longer offers it.

Now, if I could only get her to keep her mind straight and stop going out with her friends every night...what a battle!!! She is definitely one of those kids that NEEDS the military to straighten her out a bit...needs the discipline. Even she knows this.

The website is so full of info, but seems it's so "all over the place" and very daunting. I have so many questions, but can't seem to get answers because they get lost in the flow of other questions!

My daughter JUST took her practice ASVAB yesterday and scored a 50. Her previous ones weren't so great...she actually doubled her score in a month!! Shows you what studying will do, I suppose! Anyway, I'm nervous/excited for her, and know this is possibly the best thing she will ever do with her life.

Guess we have a long road ahead. They are currently doing some medical reviews on her (not sure of the terminology), and she will be going to take her real ASVAB and then onto MEPS (?) in Columbia after that. Was supposed to be this coming Monday, but evidently the medical stuff is holding it up.

Happy Fourth Everyone and may God Bless each of you and your families. A special Happy Fourth to all our sons and daughters serving in our armed forces because this is what we celebrate - our freedom and they stand tall in our fight to maintain this freedom. God Bless.

Hello, Ladies - Congrats to the Gamecocks they made us all proud. I am a Tiger but I am a proud South Carolina Girl and glad someone from somewhere other than California finally won. My nephew graduated from South Carolina with two degrees so my sister expects me to be somewhat considerate and I always do my best to give credit where credit is due and SC did have a great ball team this year. Well enough about that.

Will talk to my son tonight and hopefully his orders will be coming through shortly. Take care.

Hello Everyone, I am new to this site as I just found it this morning. My son Daniel graduated Boot Camp 4/16 and is currently in Pensacola. He hopes to get his orders this week and be able to come home for a few days. We will be so glad to see him and I can't wait to give him lots of hugs.

Daniel said that the heat in Pensacola is terrible. He thinks much worse than SC heat, right now I think I might call him on that. He said he gets soaking wet with sweat just walking from the Gally to his barracks.

I am also very proud of our two teams from SC both making it to the CWS. Of course I am a "Tiger" and wanted so much for them to make it all the way, but it wasn't meant to be and the Gamecocks have a great team. I think they just might win the whole thing. Good Luck to all you Gamecock folks our state is well represented.

I look forward to reading your posts on this site and will post when I have information to share. Take care and may God Bless you and your Sailors.
