OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Anyone can stay at Navy Gateway as long as they have been put on the CHIT. Your sailor must be there at check in with the CHIT.
Here are the places I have stayed:
Suburban Extended Stay- It was $55 a night plus tax... that was with a AAA discount. It was nice and is only like a mile off base. Free Internet
Navy Lodge- I paid $54 a night I believe. No Tax. It is on base. It is Motel style and has no been updated. You have to pay for internet and it is not cheap.
Gateway Inn- VERY NICE. I paid $45 a night. No tax. Free high speed internet. Updated rooms with flat screen TV and Keurig coffee maker! Hotel style. On base.
This weekend I am staying at the Howard Johnson. I'll let you know how it is. I would be staying at Gateway but my fiance has another CHIT in. -

So first trip down I am staying at Motel 6 East. Cheap is all I can honestly say. The WiFi costs to use so I am using Panera Breads WiFi right now.
The hotel is 35.99 per night, 4 and change tax per night. It is the cheapest place I could find that allowed pets with no pet deposit. I am about 15 minutes via interstate to NAS. It isn't too bad but the bed sucks and I had to fix the toilet my first day!! Also, since I brought our small flatscreen to my wife I am using it in the hotel because I couldn't hook my DVR up to their TV from the 80's.
Again, it is real cheap, the area I am in is desolate except for the highways nearby. There are a lot of empty buildings around so taking the dogs out is easy and quiet.
I would stay here again if I bring my dogs, if I don't have the dogs and I can get a decent room for a little more money I would take that. -

Ok so I HATED the Howard Johnson!!! Do not stay here!!! It is about a 20-25 min drive to base and here is everything that went wrong:
Sheets and pillow cases did not match
Pillows were a SORRY excuse for a pillow
Bedding was so nasty I went and bought blanket to use
Bathroom was disgusting
Had to have my room key re-set 3/4 nights I was there
I go ZERO housekeeping
Got NO clean towels until the 3rd day
The toaster for breakfast was broken
Basically I will NEVER stay here again or EVER recommend it to anyone! It sucked and I told them so on their comment card! -

Staying at the Days Inn on Pensacola Blvd north of NAS Pensacola.
Well, I got a "deal" from Hotel dot com and well to say the least I am extremely disappointed in this hotel.
The ice machines do not work and you have to go to the front desk to get ice.
The room is dirty, clean visually but not the details.
Paint is chipped and falling off the ceilings in the main room and bathroom.
Noise between rooms is audible.
Old TV so I couldn't hook up my DVR to record and watch my favorite TV shows! I know, I am not here to watch TV but I really like Gary Unmarried.
The smell outside isn't the hotels fault but it stinks up here.
I will not stay here again, nor do I recommend it for anybody. -

so far I have only stayed in the Navy Gateway Inn. My experience was horrible but only because I didnt know there were 'rules'.
*I did not know a chit was necessary to stay there so I had to wait in the lobby w/all my stuff like a loser for 4 hours while my husband ran around base trying to get his chit filed. (it was lunch time so everyone he went to to sign off on it was gone)
*Then the girl @ the front told me I just needed the chit and as long as I had a military ID (b/c I'm a wife, he's my 'sponsor') then she could get me checked in. So I walked the 15 mins or so up the street to right around the Chevelier hall and met my hubby to get the chit from him (WITH all of my luggage and half way the sidewalk ends so my wheely luggage was useless...). Then he went back to finish some INDOC classes or something to phase up and I went back to check in.
*By the time I got back they had switched shifts and a new girl was @ the desk. SHE told me that my hubby DID have to be there to check me in. At this point I started crying. Not loud obnoxious crying, but I just could not stop the tears. I was so frustrated! This is the 1st time I have ever cried in public and it was humiliating. I had taken an over night flight (so no sleep), waited a few hours at the tiny little airport to kill time till check in, and then was forced to wait 3-4 MORE hours in the lobby so my hubby could get the chit that they failed to inform me that I needed when I made the reservation.
Long story short the girl felt so bad for me she checked me in w/out him there (he called and she said that was fine) and gave me a nicer room. VERY nice hotel. Staff was friendly. It wasnt their fault, their hands are tied by policy. Just know you need a chit and your sailor has to be there @ check in.
-They have an uber delicious cappuccino machine right next to the front desk.
-Flat screen TV, comfy bed and pillows. Clean. HUGE bathroom but tiny shower, lol.
-Front lobby is way nice w/chandelier, TV and waiting room appointed like your grandmas living room...lol.
-On base, pretty much up the street from the barracks. 20 min walk to the barracks from the Gateway lobby..
-$45 a night for a standard room, $54 a night for a suite.
So i WOULD recommend it, just know: CHIT and SAILOR present @ check in! Also: they book up really quickly so make a reservation early! even just a tentative one because you can cancel up until the night before. In my experience they book up like 2 weeks in advance...
Contact info for Navy Gateway Inn and Suites: 1.800.996.7937 hit 736 which corresponds to PEN on the phone keypad for the PENsacola naval base and then 1 to make a reservation. there is also a website I believe but I have never used it...
also I am staying @ the Super 8 Pensacola (N.A.S. CORRY) on North New Warrington Road this weekend... so I will let you know how that goes. I am not expecting much as the review are horrible but I waited till the week before I went to make reservations @ the Gateway and they were booked so this is what I'm stuck with... -

I was just down in Pensacola, and I made my reservation at the suburban extended stay- DO NOT STAY THERE. First off its overpriced for what you get. Everything in my room was NOT clean, the hotel stank. The hallways were dirty. It was BAD so i switched to the Ashton Inn & Suites and LOVED it there. It was cheaper, clean and had an indoor and an outdoor pool and it was bout 2-3miles from base!

Do NOT stay at the Bay Beach Inn in Gulf Shores. Awful and rude staff!
