Here is a link that you will need to check out. It is a FAQ about PCS moves and what $$'s are available.

My Base Guide

Space A Travel Eligibility
Ok, this is a very important link and I hope it stays valid if I forget to update it. Just so everybody knows, legal dependents are now allowed to travel Space A while their military sponsor is on deployment orders. If you don't know what this is it is very simple. You can fly at little cost almost anywhere in the world on a government aircraft. You sign up on a list and wait for your number to be called. So, if your sailor is deployed to say, Japan, you can jump on a Space A flight to Japan for say 30 dollars. I don't know the exact amount, but it is cheap. Take a look at this, Google Space A travel, you will get all the answers you need. If you have more questions, ask.

thanks for the info.

did you live in P-cola? If so, did you guys get reimbursed from P-cola or from your home state for your move? I am assuming you guys did a dity move??

Can I go to the PSD or does my wife have to (she is the sailor)??

Good luck on your first deployment!!

Navy Gurl,
What office in P-cola is supposed to do the ppwrk and DITY move advancement? Can you tell us any more details of where ppwrk should be done down here. That is a great help to us that are still stuck here.
Good luck on your new assignment and good luck you your sailor!

I agree with jonwife.

Also, there is a thing called DITY (spelling may be wrong) move but the concept is that you move your stuff on your own accord when you get your PCS orders. The military reimburses you for your move. They pay for whatever is shorter. So, if you get orders for SD and you are in Pensacola rather than NC than they will reimburse you for it. If you were in say, NY or somewhere further you would only get reimbursement for the shorter distance. This is my understanding of the move reimbursement system. Like jonwife said, if you really want clarification call the transportation office, or the Fleet and Family Support office. It is across from the NEX gas station on NAS Pensacola.

My advice is to not discuss moving and spouses and dependents with these people anymore. All is does is cause confusion and stress in your lives. I do however have a concern that you are being told not to correct your personnel file. I would have to say that it is up to each individual sailor to be sure that all personal information is correct and accurate. Imagine this, a family member contacts the Red Cross about a family emergency and the Navy doesn't know how to contact you because your information is not correct. There could be negative repercussions because of this. He needs to and I stress needs to correct his personnel file, it is important and necessary.

When you get orders you will know where you are going, what you can move, and who pays for it. Before that time nobody can tell you for sure who is paying for what and from where.

lovemysailor - there should be no trouble in changing your home of record. He may not be able to change his but there should be no reason he can't change yours (I believe he needs to change the Page 2). Even though the Navy likes to think so sometimes, they actually don't control where you go (only your husband). We all decided to move down here on our own accord and even though they don't like it very much, there's nothing much they can do about it. what I would do is call the transportation office on base and find out for sure what they will move and where from. They should be able to answer any questions that you would have. And keep your chin up! As I keep having to remind my hubby, this phase is only temporary and we'll be going somwhere better (hopefully) soon. Oh and stop listening to the rumors, we've learned that most of the rumor spreaders are full of it :) LOL!!!

Hello there! I jsut wanted to check in. Hubby is at Corry now and they having them PT at 410 am ahhhh! Other than that Pensacola is pretty tough now that the oil has hit the beaches. Seems like thats all we did out here. The heat is crazy but I am glad to know that he will grad by end of Aug to take the 1st class exam! Hoping to get orders to VA soon. :) Good luck everyone.
