OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My Base Guide

Space A Travel Eligibility
Ok, this is a very important link and I hope it stays valid if I forget to update it. Just so everybody knows, legal dependents are now allowed to travel Space A while their military sponsor is on deployment orders. If you don't know what this is it is very simple. You can fly at little cost almost anywhere in the world on a government aircraft. You sign up on a list and wait for your number to be called. So, if your sailor is deployed to say, Japan, you can jump on a Space A flight to Japan for say 30 dollars. I don't know the exact amount, but it is cheap. Take a look at this, Google Space A travel, you will get all the answers you need. If you have more questions, ask.

Comment by jonwife on April 7, 2010 at 10:30pm: Yes, they take forever to class up (for the class to start) once they get here. They just do barrick support (clean, clean and more cleaning) and other things while they wait.

Comment by jonwife on April 7, 2010 at 9:23pm: Lovemysailor- generally phase one is 14 days and phase 2 is 20 more days. I live here in P-cola and am only able to get my hubby until 10 during the week and 12 on Fri/Sat. No overnights until he gets to phase 3 or recieves brown bagger status (which we're working on). They have to be back in their barricks so I don't think it would make any difference if you stayed in the navy lodge. I'm sorry :( But I would come down anyways, especially on the weekend, he'd be able to spend the whole day with you.

Also, since he's not actually here yet. Just because they say his class if 5 weeks doesn't mean he won't be here for longer waiting to class up. My husbands class is supposed to be 4 months long and they told him to get comfy, that we'd probably be here 9 mths to a year! So he may actually be here longer than expected.

Like could he take off a fri and Monday? His a school is only five weeks...thought about staying on base hotel...thanks
