Here is a link that you will need to check out. It is a FAQ about PCS moves and what $$'s are available.

My Base Guide

Space A Travel Eligibility
Ok, this is a very important link and I hope it stays valid if I forget to update it. Just so everybody knows, legal dependents are now allowed to travel Space A while their military sponsor is on deployment orders. If you don't know what this is it is very simple. You can fly at little cost almost anywhere in the world on a government aircraft. You sign up on a list and wait for your number to be called. So, if your sailor is deployed to say, Japan, you can jump on a Space A flight to Japan for say 30 dollars. I don't know the exact amount, but it is cheap. Take a look at this, Google Space A travel, you will get all the answers you need. If you have more questions, ask.

Mrs.SAILOR- THANKS for the tip about sitting @ PIR! You are amazing! So what about you and your husband? didnt you say he has class in the evenings? If they call liberty @ 4:30 and he has his mornings free he cant have liberty at all until the weekends?...

Gman did you decide when you were going down? I have found several little cottages to rent down there as well as a couple of efficiencies. Probably be a while before I move, but I think I will go down there in the next couple of weeks just for a visit.

Sailorsdarlin- lol yeah, 2 thursdays sounds a lot better than 14 days. small #'s = happy me! :0)

Mrs.SAILOR- ok thx! (info about dog duty) thats good to know. Also thx for the insight about him being an AM. I have a twin sister who's hubby is Navy too (missle tech on a sub) so I have been asking them all these questions but he's been in 4 yrs and alot has changed sense he went thru and his A-school was so different. Its so great to get the perspective from another wife of an AM! So thank you so much!

So before he completes all those classes he cant phase up to leave base on weekends right? but he can still hang out w/me on base b4 he completes those classes right?
Comment by proud Navy wife! on March 4, 2010 at 1:39pm
sailorsdarlin- yup he flies out on the 20th. )o: Is your bf not grad & go? and yeah! see you in 2 thursdays! lol

emilylane- 1 week, ish? ok thanks! oh man dog doody sounds crappy (hehehe) lol. Will he know in advance when he is assigned dog duty? Well more like, How much in advance will he know his dog duty assignment? I would be heartbroken if I bought tickets and planned for going out there for a weekend just to find out a few days before that I couldnt even see him!

wowza! I leave to work and miss all the action!!!!

Gman: great job! this group is like a gold mine of info! EXACTLY what I needed! Oh! and you asked a ques earlier... you can totally use first names, both for your Sailor (your wife) and yourself, but if you want to share last names, do that in a private message...not in the public forum or discussions or anything... Also, you say 'chit' like 'chip' with a 't' at the end. lol And yes, I am going to PIR! DEFINATELY!!!! lol, 14 mas dias! ::0) so excited! And yeah I heard to get there early but I am taking the free shuttle fr:the Ramada and it doesnt leave until 7 I dont think.... :o( sadness...

so there are a lot of AM spouses on here! thats so great! I am so eager to find out more about life after bootcamp in regards to Aviation Mechanics and I dont even know where to start! lol. Thank you everyone for posting all your knowlege and info! I was begining to loose hope that I'd ever find things out, lol.

So is it pretty much the general consensus to wait a few days after your sailor arrives in A-school before coming to visit? Mario, my hubby, wants me to fly strait from his PIR to pensicola to be w/him, I am just scared, he wont be able to see me b/c of INDOC and getting assigned his barracks/moving in... He gets there on a Saturday, so when should I plan the soonest to be there? (and I live in AZ so I will have to fly & wanna know so I can buy my plane tickets soon, lol)

Mrs.SAILOR: you said you went 4 days after your husbands PIR? I THINK I can wait that long, lol! I have class anyways so he gets there on Sat maybe if I flew there after class thurs night? lol. Thank you so much for answering my question! I have been looking for like 2 weeks now! I have one more though if it's not too much trouble...is dog duty 1 day @ a time or is it like 2-3 days in a row that you have to do it...??? I am gonna think of it as 'dog doody' lmao...

SailorsDarlin: Its SO good to see a familiar face on here! lol. I didnt know your bf was gonna go to Pensicola for A-school. Our sailors will prob leave GL's together! Hopefully I'll get to meet ya @ the PIR, are you going to the meet and greet?

emilylane, ok, I see CHIT for stuff in your room and for getting a room at Gateway lodge.
Can you explain the difference? You should be selling your knowledge!!
