Here is a link that you will need to check out. It is a FAQ about PCS moves and what $$'s are available.

My Base Guide

Space A Travel Eligibility
Ok, this is a very important link and I hope it stays valid if I forget to update it. Just so everybody knows, legal dependents are now allowed to travel Space A while their military sponsor is on deployment orders. If you don't know what this is it is very simple. You can fly at little cost almost anywhere in the world on a government aircraft. You sign up on a list and wait for your number to be called. So, if your sailor is deployed to say, Japan, you can jump on a Space A flight to Japan for say 30 dollars. I don't know the exact amount, but it is cheap. Take a look at this, Google Space A travel, you will get all the answers you need. If you have more questions, ask.

ok, more questions. First, I just got another call from my wife and asked her what I should bring her and what she needs from home. Not much because she was just at the NEX!!! Boooo, I had already packed her her stuff from home!! Oh well, won't be the first time!

Internet. Do they have it in their rooms? Do they have to pay for it if it is in their rooms?

TV's. Do they have cable in their rooms? Can they get it in their rooms and do they have to pay for it?

Theft. Is it prevalent? My wife nixed the idea of me bringing her my small TV because she said it would be hard to lock up. Do they not have locks on their doors? Is this a big concern down there?

emilylane,
Thanks for all the info. I am going to have to refer back to your post when I get there so I remember what to do!! I just hope I get down there this weekend.

How come you don't stay down there??
How long does your sailor have left? Do you guys know where to next?

Mrs.SAILOR <3, thanks for the info. on the Gateway, I will keep that in mind. Can my wife's parents stay there as well? They may like that hotel better than the Navy Lodge.

I still haven't heard any more from her today so I am going to wait until I hear from her before I leave. Everybody wants me to chill a bit, but I don't want to. We'll see what happens. Plus it is 20+ degrees warmer down there than here!!

NaVy*GuRL*2009, I am hoping to be down until next thurs or so. I haven't decided yet.

emilylane, what do you guys usually do down there? We are not a party scene couple at all. I cannot remember the last time we were at a bar! Plus my wife doesn't drink.

Does anybody know how long it takes from them to complete INDOC and all the new basic stuff?? Do they get free time right away or are they pretty much locked up for the first few days??

RicksWife7/105, I was going to leave tonight, but I haven't heard from Liz again so I will wait until she calls. My hope is to leave tonight and get there early Friday driving straight through.

From what another spouse posted here we should be able to see them at night so that is what I am shooting for. My only problem is the dogs. Liz wanted to see them and if she cannot leave base I am basically screwed. I reserved a room at Motel 6 because there is not pet fee and half the price of the Navy Lodge. I don't want to pay double per night just to be on base!

We'll see what happens. Now I just have to wait for her call.

Oh yeah, is it ok to use their names??? I really don't understand all that business. I am not using my last name or hers.

proud Navy wife!,
I will hopefully find out for sure later today when my wife calls back. I will be sure to post my findings on here though.

Are you going to GL to PIR? It is a lot of fun, and be sure to get there early. The place filled up by 7 am!!
Comment by Gman Navy Husband on March 3, 2010 at 4:35pm
Yeah, and now I cannot wait for the rest of this to start! Before my wife left GL she was sad about having to wait so long to be able to live together again!!

How long is your guys A-school?

My wife's is supposed to be 2 months or so.
