Various links to military stuff.

Here is a link that you will need to check out. It is a FAQ about PCS moves and what $$'s are available.

Space A Travel Eligibility
Ok, this is a very important link and I hope it stays valid if I forget to update it. Just so everybody knows, legal dependents are now allowed to travel Space A while their military sponsor is on deployment orders. If you don't know what this is it is very simple. You can fly at little cost almost anywhere in the world on a government aircraft. You sign up on a list and wait for your number to be called. So, if your sailor is deployed to say, Japan, you can jump on a Space A flight to Japan for say 30 dollars. I don't know the exact amount, but it is cheap. Take a look at this, Google Space A travel, you will get all the answers you need. If you have more questions, ask.

Okay so first of my boyfriend will be getting to pensecola either 11/16 or 11/17. He is going for aviation Machinist. He has 4 weeks of school. Which is great. :) and I do know that when he gets there he will more then likely be on hold until his classes are open to him. I hope only two weeks. If he takes three days out of the ten days on the holiday stand down will he still have leave after he graduates. Because if not then he rather not come home over the holiday and just have his longer leave after graduation. We are wanting to get married after a school. Once we do how soon will I be added to his page two, and from what I know since we weren't married before he joined we will have to pay for the move to where his orders take him. Not sure on that either. But if we would want to get married while he's in school how soon should he ask for his Chit so we can. And do they have a place there for us to get married or will they give him that info. And will they give him the info for housing? If someone knows anything if y'all could please help.

I would suggest moving and have him try to get in the George Washington barracks. They don't have curfews and such that way he can still stay with y'all every night but you can also still get your separation pay. Just put everything in storage and then the navy will pay to move everything from Dallas. Come with as little as you possibly can and maybe see about furnished apartments or homes.

I live in GA and drive down once or twice a month to see my hubby. I always stay at the navy gateway inn on base. It only $57 a night and it's super clean and everyone is helpful and nice. You can book the room but if you don't have a military ID you will need to book it in your sailors room and have them check you in

Once he is phase 2 he is allowed to stay out till 12 on Friday and Saturday. Once he is phase 3 he can then spend the whole weekend with you. All you have to do is sign him out & back in. He can have a laptop he will just need to get it registered. My husband has a laptop, computer and his cell phone. His roommate had a ps3. You just have to register all expensive items of they can get an unstat on room inspections which can get them in trouble

hi, my husband is going to Pensacola. I was wondering if I'm allowed to visit and see him on weekends? And is he allowed to bring a laptop to A school? so I can bring his laptop on his boot camp graduation. thanks in advance.

You can move to P-cola but it will be out of pocket. Since your sailor is a male, he may get a little hassle from his instructors but he can move off base and live with you. He would need to put in a brown bagger chit. He would do that after phase 1.

The Navy will pay for your move from Dallas. He shouldn't need to change his page 2, but they may make him. It will not effect the move to the new duty station from Dallas. They will still reimburse you for the move. As long as you were married before he joined the Navy.

If you are moving, do a change of address. That's what I did. Then do another when you move to your new duty station.

I'm sure there are other P-cola groups on here that can help you with the housing situation down there now. We were there in 2010. You can get short term leases down there no problem, it should save money so you're not paying for a vacation rental.

Good luck. Plan on being there longer than December. My wife was there 3 more months than she was supposed to be.

Hi everyone!

I have some questions for those who have moved to Pensacola to be with the A school sailors. My husband arrived in Pensacola on July 14th and graduates on Dec 19th. Our daughter and I were originally going to just visit once a month, but it is so hard being away from him. Our precious girl is only 6.5 weeks and he has only seen her during his liberty after PIR. It's important to me that he gets to spend as much time with her as possible incase he goes on deployment right after schooling.

For my questions!

If I move down there, will the Navy still pay for our PCS after A school graduation from Pensacola? or would it be from Dallas (where we are now)?

If they will only pay to move us from Dallas, what would be the best way to go about it?

My apartment complex will let me break my lease if I choose to go down, so if I put everything in storage will they just move my stuff from storage? Should  I just do mail forwarding?

If I rent a vacation rental, do I still need to change the page 2s?

So many questions and I am sure I will have more! Any help would be so appreciated!

TIA!!!

Hi!

I hope everyone is doing great! My sailor will be graduating next Friday then heading to Pcola for A school, works out great because its only like 2hours from where we live, but does anyone know if I can visit him while he is in Phase 1? I know he can't leave base and things like that, but we aren't married so will I even be able to get on base?? Ugh, I just want to see him ASAP!! If anyone has any info on this it will be greatly appriciated, thank you!! :)
