when you get there and if you dont get a place that day yes you can stay in gateway.. you'll have to pay out of pocket and then after you have to submit the receipt with PSD and they will pay you back.

I have a question about moving and temporary lodging. If all goes well and he gets his orders in time (I have all my digits crossed!!) we'll be moving to Groton in less than 3 weeks. We're planning to live in base housing and will go talk to the leasing office as soon as I get there (probably Monday since we'd be arriving on a weekend to be there for BESS graduation) but will need temporary lodging until we can sign on a place. I've read that you can stay at the Gateway while searching for housing- what exactly does that mean? Is there a discount? Is any of the cost covered under our relocation expenses?

Also, what exactly are the offices that my husband needs to talk to once he has his orders (he said there were "temporary" ones on NKO that could still change but he would get his "real" ones probably after Test 2 which is today?) to get the ball rolling for housing, and request our relocation allowance?

Subbys girl@ We live in Trident Park. It's nice enough and spacious but older buildings and ours at least seems to be falling apart lol. No biggie you just get used to the people who answer the maintenance phone. But we do save a little bit on BAH because it's older and rent isn't as much.

Subbys girl~if you are married I would suggest housing, especially if you don't know the area.
