I was wondering if any of you would know if after boot camp when my SR goes to groton will he be able to talk to me daily like in A school or is it like boot camp?

Still kinda new to the area. Looking to make some new friends. We have two boys (8 & 2). My husband is on the USS Newport News. Is there any other SO on the same boat?

Comment by KikiOtter on August 30, 2012 at 9:42am

Glad to hear you got to talk! :) My hubs is still in BESS, so I have yet to endure the "fun" of being without any contact for extended time. Used to not seeing him for long times (not our first time, or even second, having a "long-distance relationship"). But can only imagine how hard it can be some days.

We tried the skype thing a time or two since he's been in Groton, but our internet connection where we are is so slow and intermittent that all he sees of us is a badly pixelated pic. :\

He was only gone a couple weeks, and it turns out he was in port for longer than just that day, so we have gotten to talk on the phone, and even skype! :) I have voicemails and voxer messages saved so I can hear his voice while he's underway.

Comment by KikiOtter on August 29, 2012 at 9:58am

EverAster- sorry to hear that. :( Did he at least leave a message so you could hear his voice? If so, hope you saved it! I know when hubs was in basic I had a voicemail from him saved so I could listen to it whenever I wanted to hear his voice.

How long has your boyfriend been out to sea?

Comment by EverAster on August 27, 2012 at 7:30pm

I just missed a call from my boyfriend at his first port of call. I'm so bummed.
