Hey everyone, hubby just graduated bootcamp, one step closer to getting our orders.  He's going to VA next week for CS school, then off to CT for sub school.  How do your husbands handle going from family life to sub life?  I'm worried about my husband adjusting.

In honor of Military spouse day..

Silent Patriot

A woman for all season, a woman for today

She stands to meet all the challenges

And grows along the way

Her life is not an easy one

With many loads to bear

But she proudly serves her husband

And the uniform he wears

Although she didn’t take the oath

To preserve democracy

She’s there each day on the home front

To keep our country free

She’s foreign-born or a country girl

Diversity you will find

But to be a military wife,

It takes a special kind

She’s one who keeps on going

Through adversity and pain

She’s the steady strong foundation

When nothing stays the same

She’s the one who sheds a tear

As Old Glory passes by

But couldn’t give an answer

If you were to ask her why?

Throughout the years she marches on

Through tears and joy and strife

She’s America’s unsung hero ~

She’s a military wife

my hubs was on a boomer, but i just wanted to say yes they are 3 months out 3 months in but everything can change they can be out up to 4 months i know my hubs did do a 4 almost 5 monther when he was on a boomer.. i have never heard of a boomer being in for 7 months it is always 3 months out 3 months in. now if they are in dry dock and getting some major over haul then they can be in for that long lol.. my hubs is on a fast attack now, we like it so far...  fast attacks get so much bad rep from their schedules but there are some plus sides i have no complaints about the communication unlike on boomers communication is soooo up in the air.. i went a complete 3 months without hearing a word from my hubs, then he was knocking at my door lol. i love the pier side homecomings never had 1 while he was boomer. oh and skyping is the best ;).. so there are pros and cons on either type of sub you just gotta make the best out of it.

Tridents are Boomers. Fast attacks are gone for around 7 months at a time.

From what I have been told because Boomers have a much more set schedule of deployment (plus 3 months is nice and short, so they are not gone for so long at a time!), it tends to be nice for families since it's predictable.

Hello everyone! I haven't been on this site since my husband graduated boot camp and now he is on his very first patrol! This is all so new and it came so quick! I have a question for anyone willing to answer or give feed back. I heard that with Boomers (I think that is what they are called, the 3 months out at a time) that they typically are able to "spend more time" with family. I understand that in any branch of the military there will always be separation but I was just curious as to what I can expect. Thank you =)
