OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Submarine moms are special:

--- All of us have boys, "SAILORS!"

 --- Who serve on "boats,"

 --- With whereabouts unknown, and

--- We only get sporadic, short emails while they're out!

Tell us where your sailor serves...

My son is a EM on the Hartford out of Connecticut.  We are used to him popping up in random places and giving us a call.  He was involved in ICEX 2018, and he called from a sat phone at the north pole.  I DENIED the call because it showed Hawaii.  Answer every call you get when they are gone; you never know when you will get one or where it will be routed through!

Same for our grandson, he’s in culture shock. Last two years were like he was in college in a nice dorm....

My son, Connor, just left for his first deployment on SSN Columbia out of Honolulu, HI.

my son is on his first underway with the North Dakota  he is a sippy officer.  it is so very strange not to be able to text or call him but I am proud of him and I keep repeating to myself no news is good news

USS New Jersey

grandson is a Nuke just got first orders yesterday

Hi! I'm new to this group. Son is an EM "nuke." We'll get about a week with him before he heads overseas.. I heard we can send letters ahead to the ombudsman for placing aboard. Can we send food too or does that have to be purchased through the navy only? Entering this time of silence with some trepidation. Glad there are you all who've been here longer to help us newbees along!

SSN Topeka

When my son was out he was able to email me once...… Maybe you can get your son's official email address. I'm not sure about care packages while they're underway.

Our sailor is a Nuke and an ELT on the USS Washington in Norfolk VA. Schooling done, taking trials out to sea getting used to everything. He's ready to go. Me not so much, we are born and raised Floridians 5 generations on my mom's side.

Our son is assigned to USS Key West.

(Pre-Commissioning Unit) PCU Montana SSN 794 under construction at Newport News, VA

Well let’s see
