While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Things have probably changed because of the virus, so I may not be able to help answer all your questions, but I can try. One of my sons is actually stationed in Groton, Conn. Welcome to Sub Mom’s! There are also a lot of Navy Mom FB groups that you can join, several are exclusively for moms of Submariners.

It's more important than ever to feel like part of a community, as my son prepares for his first deployment. I sure enjoying putting his halfway box together, but it's also been really emotional and I struggle with worrying about him - his safety and health and coping with being so long on the sub. He has lots of friends on the boat so that will help. Congrats to all you navy moms! Aren't we all just the proudest. :) Have a happy and healthy week.

I think when they do allow travel there is a 14 day quarantine for movement at the new site after they arrive. This is evolving so it may also be affected by the state in which the base is located.

Love hearing from all you moms. I am hoping this week will offer some more sunshine and smiles. I do have to admit I'm kinda liking going to church while still in BED, but miss the real life interaction.

Comment by SallyCG on April 25, 2020 at 8:17pm: Hello! Love to hear from all of you! Sounds like my son is younger than most. He is 19 and graduates from Goose Creek on 5/29. He actually took the big final test on Friday (so hopefully good news on Monday). He would like Bangor Washington, Guam or Pearl Harbor. Seems as though Guam is quite popular!

Not sure how the Covid-19 closure will affect graduation? They might just not have it I guess! Not sure if they’ll allow him to come home for a month or not after graduation?? Wouldn’t he have to quarantine in Ohio once he got home and then quarantine when he got to whatever base he’s assigned to next?

In other Navy news, younger son is being recruited by USNA to swim on their Men’s Swim Team. We are so excited and thrilled! Went to visit in September and again in October for “Junior Day.” He absolutely loved it ALL. Has three backup schools (Utah, Pitt, and WVU all of which want him to swim as well) just in case. Anyone with Naval Academy info please holler at me (esp. if your kid or kid’s friends played a sport there).

Well speaking of Covid-19 I have to go work out.... try to get rid of my Covid-19 POUNDS. All this indoor sitting is stuck around my middle. Hope you all are healthy and happy. Hope your kids are safe and healthy and happy.

Comment by Tulip on April 25, 2020 at 7:55pm: Hi all! Good to hear your stories! My submariner is currently deployed, out of Bremerton. He re-enlisted last summer, enlisted originally in fall 2014.

We have a daughter 2 years older than our sailor. She is completing her doctorate in psychology; graduation was supposed to be next weekend but alas COVID has had its way with that.

We are in Memphis, although we are from Ohio.

Comment by fayegirrl4* on April 25, 2020 at 7:36pm: Hello all.. I have been silent as well. The past year has been quite the rollercoaster for our family. Not bad just very busy and challenging. Our submariner is not patiently waiting to detach from his current command and move to shore duty. This pandemic has thrown him and at times it's difficult to speak to him because he is so hard-headed. He is more than ready to leave ( he hasn't been happy in quite a long time). His brother, who was undesignated and in San Diego on an LPD finally found a rate after his return from his first deployment. He is now a SEABEE, Builder and stationed at Port Hueneme, CA. and he married his long time girlfriend this past December. I am in grad school ( online) working on an Intervention specialist license and renewing my teaching license.

Oceanslayer-- good to hear from you. If I remember correctly, I believe our sailors were in Groton together? I could be wrong. Please forgive me if I am. My memory is quite scrambled these days.

Hope you all are staying safe. These times are scary for sure but we have to keep the faith. Stay strong!

While your son went to Guam, my son went to Virginia Beach, and will be finishing up his Shore Duty there next Spring. Then, back to a sub again, as he has decided to re-enlisted and make a career out of the Navy which my husband, a Navy Vet and I are happy about. We feel the Navy can give him many opportunities, which he might not otherwise have. Take care and stay safe.
