Robyn,
Sent you message - don't know if you got it - here it is again, just in case.

Sent email message today to officer we know. I am off to Los Angeles tomorrow. Will be back on Wed night. May not be able to check email until I return. Just didn't want you to think I had forgotten. My sailor went to the jazz camp at UOP in junior hi. Haven't been to Stockton for awhile. Regards, B.

Also, Tina, look in "Discussion Forum" above (click 'View All'), for a thread titled "Lovely Links to Know." There more web info there about submarines than you probably ever wanted to know! Hugs, k.

Jean, I know of 4 CHARLOTTE moms: Laurie, Linda, Trina, and vidgal. Put "uss charlotte" in the 'Search' box at the top of this page, and you should find them. If not, I can help.

Amber -- do you know "Holly?" She's a Greeneville mom. Let me know if you need her link. Hugs! k.

Ladies, my son has been in for 10 years and I still cry. He is on an underway and the made a port of call. I was lucky enough to get a phone call. After I hung up, what did I do? Cry! I am so proud of him and his accomplishments, not only in the Navy but life in general. It does get easier.

Oops! My boo-boo... try Frances. I have to warn you, though, it looks like she hasn't been active since November.

Its funny you say that Rhonda8881 when my son left for boot camp my husband shed a few tears I was ok. UNTIL I recieved the BOX with all his things in it. But what made it worst was the note he left in the box for us. The things he said I just broke down to pieces by husband had to read the note since I just couldn't. I still have that note taped to my frige. Has the days go by you will feel better and when you see him at graduation in his uniform you will be so proud of him.

I did not have any websites for support when my son enlisted. He was DEP for only 20 days! I was on my own except for my husband who was very supportive. I ended up calling the EAP Center at work and the Counselor I spoke to gave me some very useful advise.

Your child leaving home is a "life-changing" event. The feelings you have are a type of grief, just as if you lose someone to death. You will go through the same steps with this grief as you do with a death. So, cry your eyes out until there are no more tears if you need to. You will go through all the normal steps of grieving, including anger, to come to terms with this life event. I don't really remember the anger part much now, but I definitely remember the weeks of tears and confusion. Having the support of this website will be a tremendous help also. If you need a shoulder or an ear, let me know. I will be glad to help.

I think the thing I like most about N4Ms is that no one here tells you not to cry. Everyone else in the family or friends tell you its OK, you don't need to cry. But here, everyone says its OK, cry all you want, we understand.
