I finally got an e-mail from my son. It was short, but that's normal. He got his "fish" yay, he's growing a beard (?) and apparently looks like Shaggy. He got to see some of Norway. Its OK to say that because they are not there any longer.. He sounds like things are better, although he is still bored most of the time. This is apparently good if you are an ET.

Congrats to your son AMBER. I was just over on my step-son's carrier site and there were a couple of moms over there that were expressing how happy they were that their sailors made 3rd Class too.

Does anyone on the list have a son on the Tennessee? The Mom's on Knit for the Navy are trying to get in touch with the Tennesse. They need an address to send the afgans.

Saturday evening Yvonne and I and Nic (USS Carl Vinson) enjoyed an all you can eat buffet at Pizza Hut, playing 18 holes of miniature golf at Lynnhaven Golf Park (Virginia Beach), and ice cream at Dairy Queen. Fun evening!

One of our personal funnies: First you have to know that Son's little sister rarely gets one over on her brother because she's gentle-natured and just doesn't think that way.

Anyway, he's always telling folks, "I'm a machinist. We're the ones in the back, hitting stuff with wrenches." Once, while home, we were all at dinner and he's telling us what he's been up to on cruise, ending with, "...and hunting terrorists."
Sis asks what they do when they find some. He says, "We shoot them." She answers, "But, you're not a gunner. You don't shoot ANYTHING. I guess you'd have to hit them with a wrench."

Son looked like he'd had water thrown in his face, speechless with his mouth hanging open. The other three of us laughed until we cried!

Hey, Ladybug! There's not a woman here who hasn't, at some point, thrown herself across the bed and sobbed... just keep crying until it all comes out. Then, you're ready to straighten your cap and be there for the younger ones who come along. It takes special women to be military moms and wives. We all suffer from that horrible duality of wanting our guy/girl to come home and stay home, but also being proud beyond words at what he/she does for this country. (By the way, large quantities of chocolate helps alot.)

For some GREAT FUNNIES, read "Top Ten Lines From Bootcamp." I promise that you won't be able to keep from laughing out loud! Hugs, k.

Lyn Love, LOL. Please tell your younger son that in my area, computer geeks are considered "sexy" - honestly. Money is sexy, computer geeks make lots of money; therefore, computer geeks are sexy.

Hey Bea, My story also takes place in Pensacola. My husband and I were there delivering Chris' car. We decided to go out to dinner at a good seafood restaurant. Several people recommended a place called "Crabs, We Got Em." The next day my husband sent out an e-mail to friends and co-workers,telling them about this great restaurant called....We Got Crabs. It took months for the jokes to stop.

Some on you are probably too young to remember this song from South Pacific. Google South Pacific if you have never heard of this Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

"Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk,
Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream,
If you don't have a dream
How you gonna have a dream come true?"

Tell us about your funniest incident/story. If we laugh and cry at the same time it'll be great.

When we went to Pensacola for our son's OCS graduation, he forewarned his father (who forgot to tell me) not to expect the Drill InstructorsIs to be polite or civil (described as real tough *%^#), even at the banquet. Several families were gathered together to be introduced to the DIs So there I am yakking away happily with the DI, comparing notes on golf courses in San Diego, giving him our contact info, inviting him to bring his clubs if he is ever in Northern California. The DI's eye lighted up when he heard the name of a couple of course we could get him on. The DI was just as nice as can be. I couldn't understand why my son was standing in the background motioning with his hand across his throat and the other Ensigns doing everything they could think of to keep from cracking up. As part of the routine at the banquet, they had to do some pushups. I think they did extras because of my big mouth. I can tell guys were ribbing my son. Boy, did I get it when we got back to the hotel.

Have a great day. B
