Same back at ya', girlfriend! It's 11pm here, and I've already yelled up the stairs twice to get herself in bed... do all teen females do that, "yell-'Fine!'-and-slam-the-door" thing? Or just mine?! Ack! k.

Hi, ya'll! I feel like I'm getting back to the sorority house or something after the holidays! I really missed everyone here and what's up with their Sailors.

I got a wonderful surprise today... Son left for a cruise on 12/16, called us on Xmas Day while in port, then headed out again until March. Today I was missing him so much I was weepy (taking down the decorations he hasn't seen since '06) and TONIGHT HE CALLED! Husband and I were just walking out of a restaurant when Hubby's cell rang. He said, "Hey, it's son!" and I burst into tears of happiness.

His boat is back in port unexpectedly and will be for a while. He had left in an emotional state due to a break-up and homesickness, but tonight sounded like my boy again. I love him so much. I just wanted to share the moment with other friends who completely understand; in fact am crying now thinking how blessed I am with all of you in my life. Thanks for letting me chatter... Hugs! k.
We talked for an hour about nothing and I'm so happy!

Linda I think that is a sing that you have done a great job at being a mom, ( he knows you are there no matter what) I do believe that boys are different communicators than girls. Also I don't think that the buddies expect them to explain everything, so they can just relax and not think about it. I remember the first time my son came home from BC he just wanted to be alone because that was the one thing he missed, and was not wanting to answer questions about everything( because remember they can't tell us much)
Just him knowing that you love him is what he needs right now (not always what we need). As they grow things change I agree with Jan because my son calls now and we talk for hours , but he is also 26.
So just use us to vent to and lean on and this to will pass
huggs

The insurance is the best way to go, but I would tell them anything important should always be carried on (for all of us) . My son had his luggage come up missing on one of his flights he filled the paper work out before he left the airport. and because he didn't recieve it with in so many hours the gave him money to replace his missing clothes and personal items. Even thougth you have insurance they will still pay you , I think that time he was flying southwest " we use them when ever we can, because my sister and niece showed up at the airport a day late one time and they still flew them home, it was unbelievable...I would not believed it but I was the one that drove them to the airport) but I will have to ask to be sure
