Thanks Linda as you are the blue crew and we are the gold crew I appreciate your information on our sub.  As to insisting, I can insisit all I want, but if he won't do the actual work, there is nothing I can do about it.  A long time ago when he was six and in first grade, I was in prayer and God had me release him to his plans even if it meant death.  Talk about scared, I was scared!  But I learned that God has him under his control, and every time I get scared I remember that moment and know he is soverign and in control.

mrsb, thanks for the website for the halfway boxes. I'll definitely need it when the USS Texas goes out sometime in the fall.

Madhoby, I agree with mrsb, definitely INSIST that your son get you on the ombudsman's list. It is for ALL loved ones, parents included.

Linda, I love your comment, that our sailors are in good hands, first with God & then with the Navy. How true!

My son just got back from his first patrol I did get on the ombudsman list and was contacted twice during patrol informing me of a drop if I wanted to send him a ziplock bag full of goodies and a call telling me that the sub would be returning. While on patrol I received emails the first two weeks after that nothing until I got hi mom I'm back phone call. He did get a list of what too bring on board. Quite the list He spent about 500 at the nex getting supplies. They need almost everything. As far as the sheets go he used twin sheets with accent clips to make it fit tight. Relax moms they really are in good hands. First with God and second the Navy

Thanks @ Annette.

Navykid, you can send a okg anytime. If they are out for an extended period, mail may be waiting at port call or such. If it's not terribly long, it will be waiting at his home port. I sent a pkg two weeks ago, not knowing they'd be returning home a few days later!

Madhoby, your son is misinformed. The ombudsman is the liaison between the boat and all loved ones...spouses, parents, girlfriends, etc.
