Mamajen, Welcome to our group. If you go back a few pages to June 17 at 1:26 am, I listed the steps to follow for the ombudsman link, so you can e-mail the ombudsman yourself & intoduce yourself. Good luck, you shouldn't have any problems following the steps I outlined.

mamajen, there is a link here somewhere for the ombudsman lists.  I will try and find it.  :)

mrsb - his last contact, he said he did set me up as his contact person and that I would be receive an email.  That was one month ago.  I was just wondering if any one from the FL blue has heard from the ombudsman or if I just need to wait longer.

Hi mamajen; you will probably have to contact the ombudsman for the boat, she most likely won't contact you. Your son will have to add you to her list so probably remind him.  I'm sure there are other moms here who have sons on the Florida so hopefully  they can help you with the ombudsman.  Welcome to sub life!!!

Hello everyone, I am new here. My son is on the USS Florida blue crew.  We are new to the silent service so if anyone can give some advise that would be great.  Like should we have heard from the Ombudsman?

I'm with you Tyson, all I can do is e-mail, text, & Facebook. The others I won't bother with, as I figure as long as I can do the main ones, I'm ok. This modern technology has my head spinning, & I'm lucky I can do what I do! My boys tell me I am technological impaired & I agree!

As we are doing this all last minute because I desperately want to go and take his younger sister who is dealing with depression and anxiety and his younger brother who is dealing with her, I have missed out on the Navy Lodge as it is all booked.  This has been a tough time on her as she hero worships him, and I really think they both need to see him and he needs to see them before he goes out as they are in refit and we know that means at some point he is going out as it is the Gold crews turn.  Plus, we are going to have to convince him to get email as he says he is not going to wait in line to use the computer so there is no need.  I keep telling him she needs it, and so do we.  But you know how 19 year old boys are.......they are INDEPENDENT and don't need contact as all we need to do is know that if we don't get a call then all is well!

We spent last weekend at the navy lodge in Kings bay Clean friendly and close to base. Can't beat the price is $57 a night. Some of the units have small kitchens if you plan on cooking for your sailor. Worth the trip for sure to see that smile and get the best hug ever. I needed to touch him and look into his eyes. By the way he is doing amazing
Big navy hug to all

Is there a Navy Lodge in Kings Bay? Always a good place.

I do not  know how to snapchat, instagram or tweet. My sailor usually lets me know he is going out for an underway. Email is fine for me.
