Linda, my son has been out twice and getting ready for a third. It is never easy but know that they do think of you often. If you have his email (for the boat) you can email when ever you want. Of course, they don't get to always read them right away. I started to become the sports announcer for different teams that my son liked. With summer coming he is into auto racing. He said so many guys would get different scores that the Doc started to compile a list and post them for all to see. I can't say that it gets easier but do know that they are safe.

Deployed for the first time. At boot camp I worried is he ok will he make it. Watching the phone every day not to miss a call. Deployed I do not need to watch the phone because it is not going to ring for months. I hope to get a email soon how cool is that to get a email from a sub. He left a voice mail on my phone saying I love you mom. I take comfort knowing that I can hear his voice while he is gone and it doesn't get any better than I love you mom. I know in my heart the navy will take care of him. This is what he has been training for working toward the fish . I will pray for him and his crew everyday. Miss him all ready.

marybeth, what a wonderful way to put that, no longer a child but an adult at peace with his decision. That's just marvelous!!!
