My sailor is on TAD from TAD and his ride-along went from "a couple of weeks" to "probably not home for Christmas". Drat.
It is good that he is getting the sea-time though.

TAD=Temporary Attached Duty, basically on loan to another unit.
A "ride-along" is when they go out on another sub to get qualifications or experience.

I understand completely Madre. I wonder if our boys are on the same boat. They'll be in quickly. :o)

Phone call from the boy made my day, but he just got back a few days ago off the sub, and now the hurricane has sent him back out again. Can't risk damaging those expensive subs Ha! No idea how long he will be gone this time but I will stay close to the phone waiting for another phone call. Its the Navy they do what they want and I'll wait patiently by.

Proud Mom - are asking specifically for this Thursday or in General? Most A school graduations are on Thursdays, but I have seen them on Friday as well. There is a Facebook page for the Groton sub base that might have more info.

Does anybody know if there is graduation on Thursdays from A school?

Please pray for this Marine and his family.  Just found out from a  Military News Release from another Navy Mom, that a U.S. Marine on board the USS Essex has gone missing overboard yesterday on August 9 in the Sulu Sea somewhere in the Pacific.  A search and Rescuse Mission began immediately and is underway involving the U.S. Navy Aircraft, Marine Corps, and Philippine Coast Guard.  Please pray for this family, as they have been notified.

Duchess2006,

With your son going to Hawaii, it will just give you a chance to go visit him there! And Hawaii is beautiful! We were stationed there for 6 years and loved it! Take advantage of this  wonderful opportunity! :)

Heading up to Groton tonight, son graduates tomorrow then home for only a few days before he heads to HI.  I've been spoiled having him on the east coast this past year.  Not ready for the 6 time zone difference and not knowing when I can visit there or he'll be home over the next few years.  I knew this was coming, but dang it came quick.

MaineGrammy, I am back as sub mom too! My sailors journey is almost the same yours. He is home for a week and reports to Groton on July 31!!!
