Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by mrsb on September 6, 2014 at 11:59pm: sasharanger, I don't have a son on the Santa Fe but I have sort of adopted one! He was in boot and Groton with my son and doesn't have a real family connection. I have asked him to put me on the omb list but don't think he has yet. I will keep on him though as I would hate for him to not get anything on half way night on a long deployment.

Comment by tysmom on September 6, 2014 at 7:09pm: I sent my sons golf clubs to HI through the post office, maybe $90....it went by how far it was going if I remember correctly.BTW There are amazing golf courses out in HI. My son is golfing as I write this. They do get discounts and the Marine base has a great one.

Comment by Shea on September 6, 2014 at 5:39pm: Unfortunately anything of significant size will be expensive. Try fedex or ups and be sure and ask for a military discount. You can save some money if you can pack it yourself. Be prepared for sticker shock. I was lucky and had a friend who got a discount with FedEx and it still cost over $300 to ship my sons 2 guitars to Hawaii!

And he is actually close by, just an hour and 25 mins from us but never has time (and doesnt wish to on his free time) to make it home much. I live in CT and he is in Groton. Anyone else on USS Virginia? I reached out a while back and never heard from any moms so am wondering if none on here have a son on the Virginia
