LindaGirl,

Since your son is being transferred here to Virginia Beach, We would be happy to invite him over to our home on the weekends . Other sailors come over as well. Check out our page on this site to find out more of what we do.

Congrates Linda Girl. I may go out again when he returns from this deployment. we shall see.

My son will be leaving Hawaii next week after having been stationed there for 5 years.  We travelled twice to see him while he was there, but the 11 hour plane ride direct from JFK is a killer, being from Long Island. He will be transferring to Virginia Beach for 3 years of Shore Duty, which we are so pleased about, as we are looking forward to 8 hour road trips, verses 11 hour plane rides!

Duchess2006, my son is in Norfolk, but we're in Jersey also! We're in the Keyport area. How about you?

Tulip, the subs ha e a blue crew and a gold crew. One is out, while the other does things needed at the base, and even volunteer for the community. If they are both in for a while, they are the green crew for a while.

It's ALWAYS about the needs of the Navy that day, isn't It? LOL! My sailor is just leaving C School, heading for his boat in A few weeks. I expect it'll be interesting to hear about how that goes.

Thanks, JayDee659! Kinda what I expected and sure what he is expecting. Semper Gumpy, right?

Tulip  my daughter had a similar situation. Some days she'd clean and do ttrack type jobs. Some days they'd muster and be sent home. Then there were a fee paper work days. It all depended on the needs of the Navy that day.

My sailor is headed to his new command in Washington. His boat is currently out; was told he'd be working with his squadron until the boat returns. Anyone know what that entails? Is it shift work or just "days" until he joins up with his boat?

So happy for my son, just found out his assignment when he finishes in Ballston Spa and Groton.  Got his first choice in Hawaii.  I better start saving now for flights from NJ to HI in the next year or so.
