Bcgoldy I know I post too much and should just read more! Lol! I found that the most important time for me to connect on N4M was when my son was running silent. No one and may I repeat no one gets it like another sub parent/spouse. I don 't think there is any other scenario that I can think of when you can't hear from a loved one at all!!!

Hi Moms - I have been a member and following for a very long time but have never commented before. Finally really feel like i need to tell all you moms how much your chat, comments, and questions have meant to me over the past 2 1/2 years. My son completed Basic, A School in Goose Creek, Power School in Goose Creek, then Prototype in Ballston Spa NY, then stationed in Groton for a very short time before being suddenly "silently" underway. The silent thing is really silent! It has been two months and your joys and celebrations have helped me keep my patience waiting. I have not heard any of you mention this but did you know that there is a "Single Sailor Deployment Readiness Checklist" ?? Those who are married know exactly why married sailors probably do not need such a thing LOL because their wives take care of all of that stuff. The list would have been very helpful if my sailor had ever seen it or read it BEFORE getting underway lol!! I found it afterwards online. Anyway i am struggling through the no contact thing and wanted you all to know that your good news, cheer and friendly support has helped me without you even knowing it!!

Rhonda that is wonderful news, so happy for everyone. How exciting to get married in Hawaii and to own a home!

William in Nashua- thank you for that bit of information. I don't think I've read about a boat changing it's home port how interesting.  Thanks for the info on living off base too :-)

ProudNavyMom#1 that is correct.  My son has been assigned to the same submarine since he graduated nuke school 1-1/2 years ago.  The sub is currently based in Groton and later when it changes its home port to Hawaii, he and the rest of the crew also move to Hawaii.

Duh I feel silly now.
Mark thank you for your post. Now I get it.
William sorry for repeat question. God bless us all
My Sailor graduates A school sometime between July and August. First choice now is Hawaii. Second Bangor. Third CA. :D let's see where The Lord sends him. I'm happy with any station. I'll go see him where ever he goes HAHAHAHA

William so they are assigned to a boat and they just follow the boat where ever it is stationed? Is this the only way they will move once assigned to a boat?
Comment by William in Nashua on May 20, 2014 at 10:01am

Kevsmom93 my son will be relocating to Hawaii soon when his submarine moves there.  The sub is currently based in Groton.  He has lived off base in Groton  almost the whole time too because he is an E5 and gets paid BAH.
