Buzzbeck welcome to the group. My son is also at Pearl Harbor. He’s been there over 4 years and loves it. I’m headed to visit him for a couple of weeks on December 26th. You’ll get lots of support here. There is also a closed Facebook group for folks who have sailors in Hawaii, it’s called Loved Ones of Hawaii Submarine Sailors. The lady who monitors it is real nice and there’s just a simple form you fill out. Again welcome to the wonderful world of subs!!

Good evening, I am new to this group. Our sailor has been assigned to a sub in Pearl Harbor, not sure if I am allowed to say which one, but he is working on his Dolphins. I pray for him daily. Looking forward too learning more about subs and how to support him.

So sorry CO-Twin that your Dad passed.  I know how hard it can be to lose a Dad.  John and I will be praying for you and your sons and family too!

Wears Large Hats, I am a survivor of 21 years. Prayers for you and your wife that all goes well. Glad you made the decision to tell him, now hope he gets the emails of good news from you. I am sure he will.

I just lost my Dad, a navy veteran, and when my son's CO was made aware, he ordered my son topside to call me. He was also ordered to come for the services. My Dad had a military burial at a national cemetery. The service was incredible and moving. It was great to have my son with me the four days.

My sailor the tall one of the bunch.

I have a large family.

WearsLargeHats - glad things went well for your wife! I know what a scare it can be, and a continued concern. I will continue to pray for her continued good health!

WearsLargeHats, so glad to hear the surgery went well & that you were able to fill your son in on the cancer diagnosis before she had the surgery, as I remember that was a concern of yours. I too think contacting the Ombudsman is your best bet for getting word to your son that all went well, as he needs to know this, so he can better focus on his job. Best wishes to your wife for a speedy recovery, & continued good health in the future.
