Just got a call from my sailor son who has been deployed since Oct. Made my day to finally talk with him, Have only received a couple short emails from him in the last week, so this call made my day & I will be on cloud 9 for the rest of the day! Counting down the days till he returns in the spring! Looking forward to the next call, whenever that might be! I'm sooo happy!

It is also very time consuming to be shaving heads and faces. Competition is good!

Have fun in HI, was just there in early Nov! Love it there. My friend and I had a BLAST!!! Got to watch the boat go out!!!

Congrates to your son on the dolphins. Mine is almost there. I think there is some sort of tradition with the beard thing. My son said something about that.

Congratulations mrsb! And yes much more privileges once they have thier fish. Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope those who's sailors are away that you hear from them and maybe some get to spend the holidays with them! We are in Hawaii with our son!

mrsb, our sons are on the same sub, but mine, did not mention anything about growing a beard in any of his emails. I'm anxious to talk with him & see if he grew one as well! Congratulations on your son, getting his Dolphins. Very thoughtful of him, waiting to get pinned on Dec. 7th, makes it all the more special!

tysmom, thanks for the heads up about more priveleges!!!  I sure hope I will hear from him more often!!! and Merry Christmas to you!!!  Hearing from him was the best present ever!!

Navymom9828, and yes, apparently they don't have to shave if they don't want to-I can't wait to see the picture!!

LoriM, that's funny about the mustache!!  My son grew a short beard while underway before; he and my other son don't have real bushy beards so this one should be interesting to see!

MrsB congrats to you son. My son did take a pic after he was off the boat of his mustache. He had to shave the beard and trim the mustache to regulation. I told I did like the mustache at all. He didn't like it either and shaved. They have a contest to see who can grow the longest beard and that on their boat.

Good morning all!!!  Well, last friday night I received two emails from my deployed son, haven't heard from him in months-well he got his fish!!!!  Finally, thank you God!!!!  He said he asked to be pinned on December 7th, to honor those who died that day. Am so proud of him!!  I can't wait to see the picture, he said he has a very nice beard now!!!
